Some thoughts from Saturday's game in Tempe.
For a while some people were wanting to see Reilly O'Toole take over the #1 quarterback spot from Nathan Scheelhaase. After Saturday, I think we need Scheelhaase back. Sure O'Toole was 10 of 14 passing, but it was only for 54 yards, he threw a pick, and almost threw another one on a screen pass because he lobbed the ball to the receiver. O'Toole needs to pump up that arm a bit. He can make some nice throws, but you have to be able to throw lasers from time to time. It's funny....a few years ago we were wanting our QB to soften his touch (Juice Williams).
What happened to the defense??? Against a good QB and Western Michigan, the defense got it done and forced turnovers. Saturday, it was touchdown after touchdown. Who knows which defense we will see as this season goes along. If it's last week's D, this could be a long season.
Nice to see the running game get going. Can't argue with 231 rushing yards. Donovonn Young had a nice 17 yard TD run. Now we just got to get a passing game to go with it.
Just a bad day for the Big Ten. Iowa, Penn State, Purdue, Wisconsin, and Nebraska also suffered tough losses. If the Big Ten wants to be taken seriously as a big time football conference, weeks like last week won't help.
The Chicago Bears won, and the Green Bay Packers lost. At least my NFL season is off to a good start. Getting my orange Urlacher jersey ready for Thursday night!

These ladies had a lot to cheer about on Saturday.
