Happy holidays! Now let’s get picking.

Blog PhotoWelcome back to our fun little game!  I hope I didn’t lose too many of you during the down time between the end of football season and now.  But if you’re an Illini hoops fan who likes to prognosticate, you’re in the right place.  And if last year’s hoops blog is any indication, we should have a good time.

For the new kids in class, here’s a rundown of how things work.  Starting with next week’s Indiana game, I’ll post a blog giving my thoughts on the current state of the Illini and asking for your score prediction for the next game.  You’re also encouraged to chime in with your thoughts on the team, but please keep it clean aBlog Photond respectful.  As the season goes along, I’ll keep track of the top pickers, and at some point, prizes will be awarded.  We’ll determine the pecking order the way we always have:  most games correctly picked is the top criteria, followed by how accurately you pick the margin of victory (Real Score Difference Total).  Check out the photo at left to see how this looks in a chart.

Blog PhotoAnd as always, I’ll remind you this this blog is for FUN.  I’ve been following the Illini my entire life, the last six and a half years as a reporter, so I hope you feel I’m qualified to analyze it.  But this missive is called “For The Fans” for a reason.  It’s a forum for the common fan to bounce his or her opinions off others while not getting too in-depth (like those two guys over there from one of my favorite hoops movies).  If you want hard-hitting analysis from the reporter who’s with the team the most, my colleague Marcus Jackson is your guy.
