Constant contact

Kansas City Rockhurst quarterback Nathan Scheelhaase, who will make his official visit to Illinois this weekend, continues to keep in touch with his future teammates.

He talks regularly with Terry Hawthorne, Leon Hill and Lendell Buckner, who have made commitments to the Illini. He also is working on St. Louis University High running back Ronnie Wingo.

It was Wingo who first put Scheelhaase and Illinois together. Wingo talked up Illinois assistant coach Reggie Mitchell to Scheelhaase and the interest climbed from there. Today, Scheelhaase sees Illinois as the perfect fit for him academically, socially and athletically. His family thinks so much of the place that they plan to move to the area.

The News-Gazette will visit with Nathan and his family later this week. We plan stories, photos and videos. We will also load up a highlight tape of Scheelhaase from his time at Kansas City Rockhurst.
