No. 10: Terry Hawthorne, cornerback.

Why he's important: A converted receiver, the former News-Gazette All-State Player of the Year missed five games in 2010 because of a foot injury. That forced the move of Justin Green from running back to cornerback, where he remains in 2011. Hawthorne returned for the fifth game (he missed the game against Minnesota later in the season) and had an interception against Indiana. He didn't start until the Texas Bowl and recorded nine tackles in a blowout win against Baylor. He finished the season with 28 tackles and 3.5 tackles for loss. Healthy again, Hawthorne should add to his interception total while limiting big plays against the Illinois secondary. While he might be more natural at safety, his high school position, he has made an easy conversion to cornerback and will be difficult for some of the league's bigger receivers.

Fast fact: A four-star recruit who made a commitment to Illinois in July before his senior year, he had offers from Arizona, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma and others.

Tomorrow: No. 9
