No. 5: Derek Dimke, kicker.
Why he's important: Named preseason All-Big Ten in national magazines, the senior from Rockford has also earned a place ont he Lou Groza Award watch list. He made 5 of 5 field goals during his sophomore season after taking over for starter Matt Eller. He continued his consistent work as a junior, hitting 24 of 29 field goal tries and all 43 extra point attempts. His 115 points is the second most for a season by any Illini, trailing only former teammate Mikel Leshoure. During his career, Dimke has missed just two field goals inside the 39 and has hit 2 of 3 from 50 and beyond. Handles the team's kickoffs and had 22 touchbacks in 2010. Led the Big Ten in field goals in 2010 and was sixth nationally, making it to the semifinal round of the Groza Award, which honors the nation's top kicker.
