Broccoli Rabe (Rapini) found at the Urbana Farmer's Market

I've been looking for Broccoli Rabe in the local stores for a while without much luck.  Broccoli Rabe is also known as Rapini.  I often see broccolini, which we like, but it is something different.

On Saturday, I meandered through the Urbana Farmers Market with my daughter-in-law.  Even though it is early in the season and the market still has quite a few empty stalls, we found plenty to pique our interest.  I found Rapini and  French-style macaroons,  DIL found a gift for her mom (shush) and a breakfast pie from an Amish baker.

Another benefit of stopping by the farmers market, the Coop and Lincoln Square, I  ran into various people from work and the community.  I have a coffee date and caught up on friends' lives.  Nice benefit to living in CU!

Blog PhotoI have several recipes for Rapini that I wanted to try and made one the other night from Sauveur.com.  This recipe is vegetarian, except we topped it with a baked chicken breast. I had farafalle in the cupboard and used it instead of buying orecchiette.

Here is a link to the recipe... Orecchiette with Rapini and Goat Cheese.  Easy and delcious!
