The Zebo Zebe show

The first thing that stands out about Zebo Zebe is his name. But once you get down to it and see the kid play basketball, you forget all about the name and focus on his talent.

The Unity guard was a good player last year — he earned second-team All-Area accolades — but so far this season he's been great. He's averaging 26 points a game after scoring a game-high 28 in Unity's 68-62 win against Teutopolis on Friday in Tolono.

He's strong and can finish when he gets to the basket. And one of his few weaknesses a year ago was his outside shooting, which he says he worked on quite a bit in the offseason. So far, so good. He nailed both of his three-point attempts Friday.

His teammates are more than capable of carrying the load if he draws extra defenders, which he did Friday. Kyler McFall scored 16 and Austin Perry added 10 for the Rockets, who also got nine from big man Dylan Sturgeon.

Look out for Unity in the Okaw Valley this season if these guys keep playing at a high level. And with a good coach like Jarrett Brown on the sideline, chances are the Rockets will be in the thick of things came March.

Speaking of Brown, congrats to him and his wife on the birth of thier third daughter, Parker Melissa. She was born Monday.

"My wife is a saint and she's holding the fort down ant home and everything is beautiful. Everybody's healthy," Brown said.
