Progress on my floor is moving right along - and it's rewarding!
I spent last weekend scraping the last of the top layer of linoleum off my kitchen floor, then using paint remover to peel off (most of) the remaining bits and adhesive. I started sanding last night and got up early this morning to do more.
This part of the process is fun (except for having to wipe down every surface in my home because of sawdust). It's taking a dingy before and turning it into, for the most part, a smooth clean surface that hasn't been seen for at least 50 years. I want to show everyone. "Look! I was right! There's wood floor in my kitchen" I want to yell.
Instead of doing that, I'm posting a photo here. It's far from done - I need to finish this round of sanding, go over it again and finish up the edges by hand. I'll need to patch the wood (see the plywood and concrete-like patch in the foreground?), scrub it down, stain it and finish it. Which is fine - my appliances haven't been delivered yet, which means I still have to send my fridge to the autobody shop for painting, and wait until my sweetie recovers from an arm injury to lift and install the new stove.
But for the first time, I feel like it's actually doable. Not bad for a week-and-a-half in, right?
