Recipe for my favorite summer dessert
These peanut butter bars aren't dependent on a grill and aren't healthy in any way. But they're incredibly tasty and don't require you to turn on your oven. They'll be popular at your cookout, team picnic or block party. If you can, keep them cool, because they tend to melt.
Also, I use butter instead of margarine, and I assure you, they taste just fine.
Peanut Butter Bars
A whole jar of creamy peanut butter
¾ cup of margarine
2 ½ cups of powdered sugar
½ cup of brown sugar
A teaspoon of vanilla extract
A bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips
Combine ½ cup margarine with peanut butter, sugars and vanilla. Mix until it all comes together. Spread in a greased 9 x 13 baking sheet. Heat chocolate chips for a minute or less in the microwave with ¼ cup of margarine. Spread over the top of the peanut butter mixture. Cool and serve. Tastes just like Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.
