Gearing up for some Valentine's Day baking

Because of all the wedding madness just before Christmas, I don't feel like I got a fair crack at holiday baking. Oh, except for that one afternoon baking spritz and snickerdoodles.

I've really only been interested in baking since I got my new stove last spring, as it cooks evenly and predictably.

So Erin and I have decided to spend a Saturday baking up Valentine's Day treats in early Februrary. We're not sure what we want to bake, although she's working on a trying a new recipe that she might blog about here.

I don't have anything particular in mind, yet, either, so I figured I'd ask you. What are your favorite Valentine's Day treats? Or are there any Christmas cookies you make year-round? I wouldn't mind incorporating some holiday flavors into this baking day.

I'm just looking forward to having goodies I can decorate with red and pink and purple sanding sugar, and dusting off my heart-shaped cookie cutters.

I agree! I plan to crust everything with a liberal topping of colored sugars.
