Ringing the bell for a good cause

Ringing the bell for a good cause

One of the things I love about my employer: for the last couple of years, The News-Gazette has encouraged its employees to sign up on teams to ring bells for Salvation Army kettles.

It's turned into a friendly competition around here, so I wanted to give my team a quick plug. If you're near Sam's Club in north Champaign tomorrow, will you stop by and drop some change? We'll be there between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

My shift is for an hour in early afternoon, but my team members (led by my baking friend Erin Lippitz) have been known to sing and otherwise entertain other would-be donators, so come by any time.

It's for a great cause, and I always find ringing the bell puts me in the holiday spirit. I hope putting a few coins in our kettle will do the same for you.

Photo is from last year's bell ringing experience.

Or... readers can stop by the Savoy Walmart and drop some change there. Our team is more fun, anyway.
