Tons of ideas for using chalkboard paint
This weekend, I cracked open my pint of chalkboard paint that seems to have no end.
I bought it to make an actual chalkboard for my sister for Christmas a few years ago, and then used it to make those chalkboard cookie sheets that have proven versatile and fun. I still have so much left, though.
This time, it was for a little project for the newsroom that you'll see later this week (chalkboard paint takes three days to cure). While I had it open though, I was unsuccessfully trying to think of other things to chalkboard.
I asked my friends on Twitter and they suggested:
- the inside of my pantry door (I'd never be able to open them wide enough, because they're butted up to the fridge, but I wish I could)
- the bottoms of wine glasses, to mark them for parties
- the tops of mason jars
- shoe boxes, for easy closet organization (I've never seen this one anywhere - it's a great idea)
- on metal or glass canisters, to act as a label
True confession - I lost interest by the time I saw all these wonderful suggestions, but I thought they were great.
Have you ever used chalkboard paint? Is there something you'd like to try it on? Other than the pesky three-day curing time, it's easy and fun to use.
