Decoupaged bucket: a cute idea for a back-to-school teacher gift

Blog reader Rebecca Patterson emailed me with this cute gift she made for her grandson's teacher. She got the idea from Martha Stewart, who Blog Photocame up with the idea of decoupaging buckets with candy wrappers. (You can see the original idea below.)

Rebecca said she found the buckets at Home Depot, and decoupaged the teacher's gift with scrapbook paper.

She sanded the bucket down with a sanding sponge, and then decoupaged the bucket in sections with Modge Podge, in order to let things dry as she proceeded. She found the scrapbook paper works best if you tear it into smaller pieces.

(She also tried a candy-wrapper versiona and found it worked with chocolate Tootsie Pops.)

How cute are these buckets, and how much is her grandson's teacher going to like this gift?

Do you ever make back-to-school gifts for your kids' teachers?
