Today, a list of things I love about fall

The other day, someone pinned on Pinterest the photo of my lovely, given-in-kindness plaid thermos.

Here's a link to her board, called "Fall is a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils."

That's a reference to one of my favorite quotes from one of my favorite chick flicks, "You've Got Mail." Tom Hanks' character writes:

"Don't you love New York in the fall? It makes me want to buy school supplies. I would send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address."

That board on Pinterest full of photos of cozy fall-related items, and of course, it got me thinking. I've blogged about caramel-y fall baked goods and fall decorating and crafty homemade pumpkins, but never just the things I plain love about fall.

I think today's a good time for that, seeing that The News-Gazette's special high school football session was included in today's paper. It means fall is just around the corner, even if spectators will be sweating on the bleachers at tonight's games.

So, here goes - the things I love about fall, with help with photos mostly from Pinterest. I would love it if you'd post your favorite things about fall in the comments.

Bonfire in our chiminea (if it ever rains enough to make burning safe):

The embroidered cowboy boots I've long-borrowed from my sister and do not plan to return:

The sound of marching band music drifting on the wind from the high school football field to our street, where I'm taking the dog on his evening walk (2003 News-Gazette photo of Central's marching band by Holly Hart):

Ixnay on that hooded cowl. If you come into the office wearing that, expect some eye-rolling, missy.

Bwahaha, I think it's cute. That's the thing about, crochet, though. There's a fine line between stylish and looking like a '70s hemp macrame hanging planter.
