Blog contest winner and a recipe for Easy Cinnamon Coffee Cake

Today, I'm announcing the winner of the little contest I started last week, to win a box full of goodies from McCormick & Company.

Lisa Storm Fink of Philo was the winner, chosen by Features Editor Tony Mancuso. He thought all the recipes mentioned in the comments on the contest post sounded good, though. Thanks to everyone who entered.

Lisa said she'd make Easy Cinnamon Coffee Cake and Cherry Almond Tart with the McCormick ingredients.

Today, I'll share the former, and tomorrow, the latter.

Easy Cinnamon Coffee Cake
1 1/3 cup and 2 tablespoons flour, divided
1 1/4 cups sugar, divided in half
2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup softened butter
2/3 cup milk
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 teaspoons cinnamon
2 tablespoons melted butter.

Grease and flour 9-by-9 inch pan or medium cake dish (6-by-8-inch). Measure flour, 3/4 cups sugar, baking powder and salt into mixer bowl. Add butter and milk. Blend, then beat at medium speed, for a minute and a half.

Add egg and vanilla, blending well on low. Pour batter into prepared pan.

Combine 3/4 cup white sugar, cinnamon, 2 tablespoons flour and 2 tablespoons melted butter and mix well. Spread evenly over batter. You can leave it on top like a struesel or swirl it into the batter.

Bake 40 to 45 minutes at 350 degrees or until toothpick comes out clean.
