Playlist of the Day

With Shoe Fest coming up, I find it even harder to stop listening to music than usual. So I thought I would share with the wide wide world what kind of music one can expect to hear at Shoe Fest (not all of these bands will be playing Shoe Fest, but it gets the same vibe across).

1. "Possum"--Phish

One of Phish's more well-known songs, this is Shoe Fest material if I've ever heard it. The bluesy groove gets right down into your bones while the lyrics just make you smile because of the absurdity.

2. "Take That Road"--Old Shoe

The guitar and fiddle in this one are just so peaceful, and it's just one that makes you want to dance. One of my favorites to see them play live. Can't wait for it this year.

3. "Follow You Down"--Ben Miller Band

Backwoods stomp meets swampy bluegrass in a glorious gumbo of head-nodding, jumping-up-and-down euphoria.

4. "The Watch Doctor"--Chicago Farmer

Soulful vocals over a sparse acoustic riff tell stories of times remembered, times lost, and how "everything is happening too fast". I think we can all identify with that.

5. "Jenny in the Middle"--Cornmeal

One of the real barn-burners in Cornmeal's extensive repertoire, this one really gets the crowd going with blazing banjo and fiddle and vocals that make you want to scream along.

These are just a few examples of the kind of music that will be at Shoe Fest next weekend; there's too much good stuff there to do it justice in any one article. Get your tickets if you haven't yet.
