I can't believe it crept up on me like this, but I sure am happy it did: Shoe Fest in two weeks! For those who don't know, Shoe Fest is a three-day music and camping festival in Manteno, about 15 minutes outside Kankakee in beautiful Camp Shaw. The river that runs through the campground is so serene, and it's awesome to walk through the shallow, clear water while you hear the music floating out over the trees. It's the place to be the weekend after Labor Day, with great music encompassing roots, folk, bluegrass, funk, jazz, jam bands, and fusion. The food and ice-cold beer are also top-notch, and if you haven't met them, the people are just the best. Everybody is so friendly and happy to be there, even the vendors don't look like they're at work. The lineup this year is pretty stellar as well, and it (along with all other information regarding the festival) can be found at the website, http://shoe-fest.com/. So get in your closet, get out your tent and your dancing shoes and come wind down summer with us. You'll be glad you did.
