Sun Stereo at Mac's Uptowner

Kicking off the weekend here in Charleston is a group from just up the road at the University of Illinois: Sun Stereo. I unfortunately will be stuck at work until two in the morning, but if you're free tonight, you should check it out. Sun Stereo's sound is a blend of jazz-fusion, sunny vocal harmonies, one of the funkiest horn sections around, and a powerful live presence has garnered them a strong following in the past few years, having played Summer Camp Music Festival, the Gentlemen of the Road Tour, and the Pygmalion Music Festival. Their Beatle-esque vocals and strong groove sensibilities (check out the song "DNA", one of my favorites) continue to win over new fans constantly, and having seen them at the last two Summer Camps, I can't wait for this year. But don't forget, you don't have to wait until May, they'll be at Mac's Uptowner in Charleston tonight! So get out of the house, brave the winds, and go get your groove on.
