Illinois players have received little to no attention in preseason publications forecasting the 2013-14 season and that’s to be expected with so many unknowns entering John Groce’s second campaign.
But a pair of fresh faces cracked UMHoops.com’s list of the top 10 newcomers in the Big Ten this season.
Drake transfer Rayvonte Rice made the list at No. 5 and freshman Kendrick Nunn rounded out the group at No. 10.
The analysis notes Rice’s ability to get to the free throw line, something Illinois didn’t do at a great rate last season. Nunn is touted as a scoring threat off the bench.
