Clean the Garage - Help the Animals

I don’t know about you, but I get overwhelmed this time of year, pulled in too many directions!  Weekends are too short and I want to do everything: hit the farmer’s market (and then cook fabulous meals with the fresh ingredients), work in my yard and gardens, clean the carpets, clean out the garage and basement!  I still haven’t finished putting the winter sweaters away and moving the summer wardrobe into my closet.

That’s why is great to have a motivator like the upcoming Champaign County Humane Society GIANT Garage Sale.  In its 26thyear, I believe the sale has become more than an annual fundraiser – it’s a community service.  It motivates people like me to get to work clearing out my excess “stuff” while helping a good cause.

Here’s what you need to know if you’d like to feel as motivated as I do:

Champaign County Humane Society Volunteers will be accepting donations for the GIANT Garage Sale at Kesler Hall, at the Champaign County Fairgrounds, May 20th through 23rd.

What do we want?
Good, useable items that are not broken or worn out.  We will accept clothing, but please do not bring items that are stained, torn or badly worn.  Yes, we DO want books.  We also sell live plants, so if you have any extras, bring them by.

What DON'T we want?
Please do not bring anything broken or with missing parts, carpeting, children's car seats, chemicals, computer monitors (unless flat screen), console TVs, flammable liquids, large appliances or large pieces of furniture, lumber, magazines, mattresses/box springs, out-dated computers, paint, sinks, tires, underwear or swimsuits, weapons, or windows.  We have difficulty reselling these items and must pay to have someone else haul them away.  Plus, they take up a great deal of space in the building.
