Section 8 debate in NYC

Members of the Champaign City Council recently voted to repeal a city ordinance requiring local landlords to particiate in the federal government's voluntary Section 8 housing subsidy program.

The council's action drew screams of outrage from those who opposed the measure. Now a similar debate in under way in New York City, where

landlords in gentrifying neighborhoods want out of the Section 8 program.
