There's a scene in an excellent Woody Alan movie, "Play It Again Sam," where Woody, a hapless pickup artist, hits on a woman at a museum.
In this scene, he sidles up to a nice-looking babe looking at a picture and asks, "What does that painting say to you?"

She goes on at considerable length about the art work, its bleak nothingness that symbolizes futility and desperation. Woody's eyes get wider and he becomes increasingly horrified and upset as the woman continues on in a depressing analysis about the hopelessness, the utter sham, of life on earth.
After she finally finishes, Woody asks, "What are you doing Saturday night?"
"Committing suicide," she replies.
"How about Friday?" says Woody.

Well, Barack Obama, the rock star/presidential candidate, still has people crying and wailing in exultation as he takes his rhetorical flights. Delivering his speeches brilliantly, Obama promises to change the awful nothingness of life in the United States when he takes up residence in the White House.
So far, he's doing great. But how long can he keep delivering these uplifting downers? Maybe long enough to win, but columnist Dan Henninger has his doubts that it will stand the test of time. It's an interesting analysis of the Obama phenomenon.

Wow. If the writer was half as elegant as Obama in delivering his critique, I might hav

What both authors can't grasp is Obama has accquired the Steve Jobs' reality distortion field -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reality_distortion_field

People have been saying for decades 'Apple's gona die, Apple's going under' Then Apple gains marketshare, and the stock goes nuts and they still say 'Everything's great _now_ but Apple's going down, it will fail'

I see a lot of similarity between critics of Apple and critics of Obama --

"The senator's charisma and appeal has been undeniable. He is almost insanely eloquent. Still, about halfway into this (very long) speech, the feeling was hard to shake: This is getting hard to listen to. Again and again."

Most people DON'T listen to him over and over again... only political pundits.

Insane eloquence will be a refreshing change from the functional alcoholic we currently have in office. His alma mater's Speech Communications department must cringe every time he gets behind a microphone!

I daresay Obama is Regan-esque in his delivery -- I dub him 'The Greater Communicator'

Eloquence of speach is little substitute for honorable actions, and B. Hussain Obama does NOT have honorable intentions. He is an empty suit (with an empty head) that will be George Soros' puppet if he manages to win the presidency.

dw, you may think Obama is "Reagan-esque" and a "greater communicator" but he will push a socialist agenda, stealing the eeevil profits and hard earned wages of taxpaying, productive citizens to GIVE (through government, after extracting exorbitant ammounts) to the non-productive in our great nation (and the world), turning the greatest country God ever endowed on a free people into a socialist/communist shadow of the greatness it can be.

The great Ronald Reagan was a statesman and encouraged the people to do and give the best of their abilities, wheras B. Hussain Obama will destroy the greatness that could be by making the "less fortunate" more and more dependant on the handouts from his government, not their own limitless abilities.

Ronald Reagan encouraged people to dream big, follow their greatest dreams and allowed them to keep a larger share of their hard earned money by cutting taxes, and in doing so increased the revenue to the US treasury. Because of more production, more people working and paying taxes, greater profits for businesses all lead to more taxes being paid into the treasury.

B. Hussain Obama will seize the profits of profitable businesses and increase taxes on everyone! Don't believe the tired old "tax the rich" BS he and all democrats spew, when taxes go up for businesses, they just pass the costs on to all consumers of whatever goods/services they produce.

NEWS FLASH!!BillD!!:

GEORGE BUSH IS NOT GOING TO BE ON THE BALLOT IN NOVEMBER!!

Hey, BillD,

Where do you get your inept "talking points", from the "DEMOCRAPIC UNDERGROUND"??!! They are just a bunch of MIS-informed bloggers FOAMING AT THE MOUTH WITH BDS (Bush Derangement Syndrome) that get their MIS-information from CNN (Clintoon sNooz Network) and MSNBC (Mostly Socialist Nonsensical Bull C-rap)

Posted by FReRydr on March 4, 2008 at 2:17 PM

Hey, BillD,

I hope you can recover from your hatred and BDS (Bush Derangement Syndrome), but I'm afraid you will be suffering long after President Bush is out of office. Maybe that is just reward for giving us the panderer in chief, Clintoon. THANK GOD Albore was not elected and the same goes for John F'in Kerry, too!

I fail to understand why you (BillD) are not able to keep to the subject, isn't the article about Sena-traitor B. Hussein Obama??! "dw" made a referance to the great Ronald Reagan trying to infer that Osamabama was a BETTER "communicator" and I just refuted it by what each was/is communicating ABOUT, and you make a statement "....(he) was an actor". You are correct in that, he WAS a pretty GOOD actor, but you then attack me and go into your BDS diatribe about President Bush. Are you on medication for your disorder, do you go into convulsions?! Why do you think truthful statements are "casting stones? I was merely repeating what B. Hussein Obama has stated he WILL do, taxing the "rich"(productive) and rewarding (giving) to the "poor" (NON-productive)!!

I admit, your blather does add a lot of comic relief, but, if you havn't yet, you should really see a professional about your disorder.
