Pseudo-Intellectual

Everybody's talking about Sarah

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin sure gave a rowsing speech at the Republican National Convention.

It put Republicans in the same Messiah-like trance Democrats were in when their current presidential candidate Barack Obama wowed the Democratic National Convention with his keynote address there four years ago. Her zingers, delivered with both aplomb and a smile, had the delegates in the convention hall roaring and Democrats watching at home bouncing off the walls. What a show.

But there's more to Palin than just a speech. Her record in Alaska, particularly her successful stance taking on a corrupt party establishment and powerful oil companies, is impressive.

The Wall Street Journal's Kimberly Strassel took a look at Sarah's rise to power in today's edition. It is an interesting story.

"Take the buy out."

Is word of that out on the streets now?

"Her record in Alaska, particularly her successful stance taking on a corrupt party establishment and powerful oil companies, is impressive."

The N-G has to envy that. It never takes on any of its corporate allies. I'm surprised it hasn't adopted a new slogan: "He who develops recklessly on the fringes of the city develops a temple!"

Of course, none of that changes the fact the last eight years have been wasted with an ineffective administration led by a pathologically insane president. Unless she can reform her own party, there's little reason to look in that direction.

Didn't like what your boy Krauthammer had to say today, Jim?

"And worst, the paucity of any Palin record or expressed conviction on the major issues of our time."

Take the buy out.
