Illinois offered a scholarship to defensive end Dewayne Hendrix two days before Thanksgiving last November.

Many others, however, have joined the party in pursuit of the Class of 2014 prospect from O’Fallon (Ill.) High School.


Finke is getting bigger

Tuesdays are big days for Michael Finke.

For obvious reasons, the Champaign Centennial (Ill.) High School big man usually has a game for the Chargers.

Like last night when he scored 18 points and grabbed 13 rebounds during Centennial's 58-44 win against Rantoul (Ill.) High School during a Class 3A Centennial Regional semifinal game.

Postseason play nears for Class of 2013 signee

While the Illinois men’s basketball team still has two weeks left in its regular season, the postseason is nearing for five recruits of John Groce who will be in Champaign at this time next year.


Illinois one of eight offers for Jackson

Justin Jackson has already played on the Memorial Stadium turf in Champaign.

Whether he does so after he graduates from Glenbard North (Ill.) High School will likely play out in the next nine months.


Illinois and the McDonald's All-American game

For the third straight year, an Illinois men's basketball recruit will not play in the McDonald's All-American game.

The prestigious high school boys basketball game will take place at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3, at Chicago's United Center. The game will be televised on ESPN.


Mennig: Winning certainly helps Bollant's recruiting
