Roberts down to Illinois and Syracuse
Chicago De La Salle has already had a few of its top players decide on a Division I school.
Running back Mikale Wilbon is headed to Vanderbilt.
Offensive tackle Jamarco Jones will suit up at Ohio State.
And another Meteor in the Class of 2014 appears headed to a BCS program.
It's down to the Illini and Syracuse for Chicago De La Salle guard Aaron Roberts.
The 6-foot-6, 295-pound Roberts visited Illinois on Monday and has plans to visit Syracuse in early August.
Tim Beckman and his staff have one offensive lineman committed so far in the Class of 2014 in Nick Allegretti from Lincoln-Way East.
Allegretti will likely play center at Illinois, with Roberts a possibility at a guard spot, or, if he develops, a possibility at tackle.
"I loved the visit," Roberts wrote on Twitter about his stop at Illinois. "Coach Beckman had the flu and still made it a priority to come and see me."
If Roberts decides on Illinois and is the next Illini to commit, three-fifths of Beckman's class will either be from Chicago or its surrounding suburbs.
De La Salle and Roberts open the 2013 season against Chicago Phillips on Sept. 1 at Soldier Field.
Roberts is expected to make a decision regarding Illinois or Syracuse before then.
Either way, he'll wind up wearing orange and blue at the next level.
"Now just ready to make this trip to (Syracuse)," Roberts tweeted, "and make my decision!"
