Weekend Wrap — Domer comes up big

Every week during the football season, Illinois football beat writer MATT DANIELS will give a wrap-up of how Illini commits and targets fared during the previous weekend’s games.

Here are a few notes from Week 5.



THE COMMITS

NICK ALLEGRETTI, a center at Lincoln-Way East (Ill.) High School who committed to Illinois on March 11, and the Griffins beat Lockport (Ill.) Township High School 50-6 at home on Friday night. Allegretti had four pancakes in the game playing only the first half with the Griffins up 42-0 at halftime. He now has 20 pancakes on the season. Allegretti and Lincoln-Way East (4-0) play at Homewood-Flossmoor (Ill.) High School at 7:30 p.m. this Friday.

GERONIMO ALLISON, a wide receiver at Iowa Western Community College who committed to Illinois on July 25, and the Reivers beat College of DuPage (Ill.) 33-0 on Saturday at home. Allison had five catches for 60 yards, including a 25-yard touchdown reception. Allison and the Reivers (5-0) will play at Georgia Military College at noon this Saturday.

CHAYCE CROUCH, a senior quarterback at Newark (Ohio) Catholic High School who committed to Illinois on May 2, and the Green Wave won 40-3 at Lakewood (Ohio) High School on Friday night. Crouch completed 13 of 21 passes for 188 yards and a touchdown while adding a 1-yard touchdown run. Crouch and the Green Wave (3-1) will host Watkins Memorial (Ohio) High School this Friday night.

MATT DOMER, a senior running back at Chicago Mt. Carmel High School who committed to Illinois on July 2, and the Caravan beat Chicago Brother Rice High School 28-20 on Friday night at Gately Stadium in Chicago. Domer rushed for 121 yards on 14 carries, including rushing touchdowns of 18 and 12 yards, and caught a 12-yard touchdown pass. Domer and the Caravan (4-0) play at Chicago St. Rita at 7:30 p.m. this Friday.

MIKE DUDEK, a senior wide receiver at Naperville (Ill.) Neuqua Valley High School who committed to Illinois on April 3, and the Wildcats beat St. Charles (Ill.) East High School 54-28 on Friday night at home. Dudek had 335 all-purpose yards and scored five touchdowns. He caught four touchdowns and returned a kickoff 94 yards for his other score. Dudek and the Wildcats (3-1) will play at East Aurora (Ill.) High School at 7:30 p.m. this Friday.

JULIAN HYLTON, a senior athlete at Lincoln-Way North (Ill.) High School who committed to Illinois on July 9 and is projected to play cornerback at Illinois, and the Phoenix won 41-14 at Dolton (Ill.) Thornridge High School on Friday night. Hylton rushed for 106 yards and three touchdowns. Hylton and the Phoenix (4-0) will host Harvey (Ill.) Thornton High School at 7:15 p.m. this Friday.

HENRY McGREW, a senior linebacker at Blue Valley (Kan.) High School who committed to Illinois on June 18, and the Tigers won 35-28 at Salina (Kan.) South High School on Friday night. McGrew had 11 tackles and ran for a 1-yard touchdown. McGrew and Blue Valley (2-1) will play at Blue Valley (Kan.) North High School at 7 p.m. this Friday.

TITO ODENIGBO, a senior defensive lineman at Centerville (Ohio) High School who committed to Illinois on March 11, and the Elks beat Lebanon (Ohio) High School 42-14 at home on Friday night. Odenigbo had three tackles in the win. Odenigbo and the Elks (4-0) will play this Friday night at Naples (Fla.) High School.

AUSTIN ROBERTS, a senior linebacker from Rice Lake (Wis.) High School who committed to Illinois on June 13, and the Warriors lost 27-20 at Superior (Wis.) High School on Friday night. Rice Lake (3-2) hosts Menomonie (Wis.) High School at 7 p.m. this Friday, but the Warriors are without the services of Roberts for the rest of the season after the linebacker tore the ACL in his left knee on Sept. 6.

MALIK TURNER, a senior wide receiver from Springfield (Ill.) Sacred Heart-Griffin High School who committed to Illinois on June 24, and the Cyclones beat Taylorville (Ill.) High School 66-12 at home on Friday night. Turner had five catches for 137 yards, including touchdown catches of 13 and 17 yards. Turner and the Cyclones (3-1) will play at Jacksonville (Ill.) High School at 7 p.m. this Friday.

THE TARGETS
TRENTON BALL, a senior tight end from Midwest City (Okla.) Carl Albert High School, and the Titans beat Duncan (Okla.) High School 28-6 at home on Friday night. Ball, who has an offer from Illinois and interest from Indiana, Kansas State, Missouri and Purdue, and the Titans (2-1) will host Deer Creek (Okla.) High School this Friday night.

KEI BECKHAM, a junior cornerback from Trotwood-Madison (Ohio) High School, and the Rams won 22-6 at Fairmont (Ohio) High School. Beckham, who has offers from Illinois, Akron, Central Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky and Western Michigan, and the Rams (2-1) will host West Carrollton (Ohio) High School this Friday night. 



TERRY BECKNER JR., a junior defensive end from East St. Louis (Ill.) High School, and the Flyers lost 10-6 at home to O'Fallon (Ill.) High School on Saturday afternoon. Beckner, who has offers from Illinois, Cincinnati, Florida, Florida State, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio State, Purdue, Syracuse and Tennessee, and the Flyers (1-3) will play at 1 p.m. this Saturday at Belleville (Ill.) East High School.

JACK BENEVENTI, a junior quarterback at Benet (Ill.) Academy, and the Redwings won 30-6 at Crete-Monee (Ill.) High School on Friday night. Beneventi was 9 of 26 for 124 yards, including a 13-yard touchdown pass. Beneventi, who has offers from Illinois, Iowa, Louisville, Massachusetts, Notre Dame and Western Michigan, and Benet (4-0) get back in action at Chicago Heights (Ill.) Marian Catholic at 7:30 p.m. this Friday. 


BRENNAN BOSCH, a junior guard from St. Charles (Ill.) East High School, and the Fighting Saints lost 54-28 at Naperville (Ill.) Neuqua Valley High School on Friday night. Bosch, who has an offer from Illinois and interest from Minnesota, and the Fighting Saints (3-1) host Elgin (Ill.) High School at 7:30 p.m. this Friday.

MILES BOYKIN, a junior wide receiver at New Lenox (Ill.) Providence Catholic High School, and the Celtics lost 28-16 at Wilmette (Ill.) Loyola Academy on Saturday afternoon. Boykin had six receptions for 76 yards, including a 26-yard touchdown catch. Boykin, who has offers from Illinois, Michigan State, Mississippi and Western Michigan, along with interest from Iowa, LSU, Minnesota, Northwestern, Ohio State and Vanderbilt, and the Celtics (2-2) will host Chicago Gordon Tech High School at 7:30 p.m. this Friday.



DRE BROWN, a junior running back at DeKalb (Ill.) High School, and the Barbs beat Ottawa (Ill.) High School 56-28 on Friday night at home. Brown had 163 yards of total offense and scored four touchdowns. He had rushing touchdowns of 26, 46 and 14 yards and also caught a 15-yard touchdown pass. Brown, who has offers from Illinois, Kent State, Northern Illinois and Toledo, and the Barbs (2-2) play at Streator (Ill.) High School at 7:30 p.m. this Friday.

JAMES BUTLER, a senior running back at Wheaton (Ill.) St. Francis High School, and the Spartans lost 30-7 at Lombard (Ill.) Montini High School on Friday night. Butler rushed for 107 yards on 25 carries. Butler, who has interest from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa and Purdue, along with offers from Nevada and Temple, and the Spartans (3-1) will host Aurora (Ill.) Christian School at 7 p.m. this Friday.

JB BUTLER, a senior guard from Joliet Catholic (Ill.) Academy, and the Hilltoppers won 42-0 at LaGrange Park (Ill.) Nazareth Academy on Saturday afternoon. Butler, who has offers from several FCS schools and interest from Illinois, Indiana, Miami (Ohio), North Carolina State, Northern Illinois and Syracuse, and Joliet Catholic (4-0) will host Chicago Marist High School at 7:30 p.m. this Friday.

NICK CONNER, a junior linebacker from Dublin (Ohio) Scioto High School, and the Irish lost 41-38 at home to Westerville (Ohio) Central High School on Friday night. Conner rushed for 46 yards on eight carries, including a 4-yard touchdown run, while catching two passes for 38 yards, including a 34-yard touchdown reception. Conner, who has offers from Illinois and Kentucky, along with interest from Ohio State, Penn State and Purdue, and the Irish (2-2) will play at Westerville (Ohio) North High School this Friday night. 


MICAH DEW-TREADWAY, a junior defensive end at Bolingbrook (Ill.) High School, and the Raiders won 41-0 at Palos Hills (Ill.) Stagg High School on Friday night. Dew-Treadway, who has an offer from Mississippi State and interest from Illinois, Cincinnati, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan State, Mississippi and Texas, and the Raiders (4-0) will host Joliet (Ill.) West High School at 7:30 p.m. this Friday. 


DAVID EDWARDS, a junior quarterback at Downers Grove (Ill.) North High School, and the Trojans lost 16-10 in overtime at Oak Park-River Forest (Ill.) High School on Friday night. Edwards threw for 75 yards and scored the Trojans' lone touchdown on a 1-yard run. Edwards, who has offers from Illinois, Indiana and Vanderbilt, and Downers Grove North (2-2) will host LaGrange (Ill.) Lyons Twp. High School at 7:30 p.m. this Friday.

JIMMY FITZGERALD, a junior quarterback at Champaign (Ill.) Centennial High School, and the Chargers lost 39-12 at home against Normal (Ill.) Community High School on Friday night. Fitzgerald completed 21 of 27 passes for 155 yards and rushed for 41 yards. Fitzgerald, who has offers from Illinois and Yale, along with interest from Duke, Indiana, North Carolina and others, and Centennial (1-3) will host Urbana (Ill.) High School at 7 p.m. this Friday. 


JEFF GEORGE JR., a senior quarterback at Warren Central (Ind.) High School, and the Warriors beat Indianapolis North Central High School 28-26 on Friday night. George threw three touchdown passes in the win. George, who has a grayshirt scholarship offer from Illinois and interest from Akron, Cincinnati, Indiana, Louisville and Purdue, and the Warriors (4-1) will host Indianapolis Pike High School this Friday night.

DARRIN HALL, a junior running back at Austintown (Ohio) Fitch High School, and the Falcons beat Dover (Ohio) High School 41-7 at home on Friday night. Hall rushed for 245 yards on 29 carries, including touchdown runs of 41 yards and 2 yards. Hall, who has offers from Illinois, Arkansas, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan State, Nebraska and Purdue, and the Falcons (4-0) will play at Boardman (Ohio) High School this Friday night.

KRAIG HOWE, a junior defensive tackle from Kettering (Ohio) Archbishop Alter High School, and the Knights won 9-0 at Roger Bacon (Ohio) High School on Friday night. Howe had four tackles, including half a sack. Howe, who has offers from Illinois and Pittsburgh, along with interest from Arkansas, Duke, Indiana, Iowa, Northwestern, Ohio State and Toledo, and the Knights (3-1) resume play at home this Friday night against Purcell Marian (Ohio) High School.

ADOREE' JACKSON, a senior cornerback and wide receiver at Junipero Serra (Calif.) High School, and the Cavaliers beat Dorsey (Calif.) High School 48-18 at home on Friday night. Jackson racked up 229 all-purpose yards, including a 65-yard touchdown catch. Jackson, who has offers from Illinois, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Tennessee, UCLA and USC, and the Cavaliers (4-0) play at Harbor City (Calif.) Narbonne High School this Friday night.

RODERICK JOHNSON, a senior offensive tackle from Hazelwood (Mo.) Central High School, and the Hawks won 47-8 at Hazelwood West (Mo.) High School on Saturday. Johnson, who has offers from Illinois, Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Florida State, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas State, Michigan, Michigan State, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Wisconsin, and the Hawks (4-0) will host Ritenour (Mo.) High School at 1 p.m. this Saturday.

DARRIN KIRKLAND, a junior linebacker at Lawrence Central (Ind.) High School, and the Bears lost 42-10 to Center Grove (Ind.) High School at home on Friday night. Kirkland, who has offers from Illinois, Akron, Indiana, Louisville and Toledo, and the Bears (3-2) will play at Ben Davis (Ind.) High School this Friday night. 



KENNY JONES, a senior wide receiver at Lawrence Central (Ind.) High School, and the Bears lost 42-10 to Center Grove (Ind.) High School at home on Friday night. Jones, who has offers from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa State and Louisville, and the Bears (3-2) will play at Ben Davis (Ind.) High School this Friday night. 



SIMEON LANE, a junior defensive tackle from Cincinnati St. Xavier High School, and the Bombers beat Indianapolis Cathedral High School 15-6 on Friday night. Lane had three tackles in the win. Lane, who has an offer from Illinois and interest from Boston College, Minnesota and Northwestern, and the Bombers (3-1) will play at Cincinnati Archbishop Moeller High School this Friday night. 


HUNTER LITTLEJOHN, a junior guard at Olentangy (Ohio) Liberty High School, and the Patriots beat Grove City (Ohio) Central Crossing High School 49-7 on Friday night at home. Littlejohn, who has offers from Illinois, Boston College and Indiana, and the Patriots (2-2) will play at Upper Arlington (Ohio) High School this Friday night.

TRAVIS LOCK, a running back at Nassau (N.Y.) Community College, and the Lions beat Erie (N.Y.) Community College 23-6 on Saturday at home. Lock rushed for 106 yards on 20 carries, including a 17-yard touchdown run. Lock, who has offers from Illinois, Arizona State and South Florida, and the Lions (4-0) will play at Lackawanna (Pa.) College this Saturday.

MADRE LONDON, a senior running back at St. Thomas Aquinas (Fla.) High School, and the Raiders lost 22-20 to Miramar (Fla.) High School on Friday night at home. London had an 8-yard touchdown run. London, who has offers from Illinois, Michigan State, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Virginia and Wisconsin, and the Raiders (2-1) return to the field this Friday night at home against Davie (Fla.) Nova High School. 


ANTHONY McKEE, a junior linebacker at Walnut Ridge (Ohio) High School, and the Scots won 47-20 at Columbus (Ohio) South High School on Friday night. McKee, who has offers from Illinois, Arkansas, Boston College, Bowling Green, Kentucky, Tennessee, Toledo and West Virginia, and the Scots (3-1) play at Marion-Franklin (Ohio) High School this Thursday night. 


GABE MEGGINSON, a junior offensive tackle at Jacksonville (Ill.) High School, and the Crimsons won 29-15 at Springfield (Ill.) Southeast High School on Friday night. Megginson, who has offers from Illinois, Akron, Indiana, Northern Illinois and Wisconsin, and the Crimsons (3-1) will host Springfield (Ill.) Sacred Heart-Griffin High School at 7 p.m. this Friday. 


KENTRAIL MORAN, a sophomore running back at O'Fallon (Ill.) High School, and the Panthers won 10-6 at East St. Louis (Ill.) High School on Saturday afternoon. Moran rushed for 132 yards on 33 carries. Moran, who has an offer from Illinois and Northern Illinois along with interest from Alabama, Cincinnati, Florida, Indiana, Iowa and Tennessee, and O'Fallon (3-1) will host Belleville (Ill.) West High School at 1 p.m. this Saturday. 



FLYNN NAGEL, a junior wide receiver at Chicago Marist High School, and the RedHawks beat Chicago St. Patrick High School 42-34 on Saturday at Hanson Stadium in Chicago. Nagel caught six passes for 76 yards, including a 16-yard touchdown. Nagel, who has offers from Illinois, Indiana and Northern Illinois, along with interest from Iowa, Michigan, Northwestern, Ohio State, Vanderbilt and Western Michigan, and the RedHawks (3-1) will play at 7:30 p.m. this Friday at Joliet Catholic.

QUINN OSELAND, a junior offensive tackle at Springfield (Ill.) Sacred Heart-Griffin High School, and the Cyclones beat Taylorville (Ill.) High School 66-12 on Friday night at home. Oseland, who has interest from Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Vanderbilt and Wisconsin, and the Cyclones (3-1) will play at 7 p.m. this Friday at Jacksonville (Ill.) High School.

MARTESSE PATTERSON, a senior guard from Marion-Franklin (Ohio) High School, and the Red Devils beat Columbus (Ohio) Independence High School 44-18 on Friday night at home. Patterson, who has offers from Illinois, Akron, Ball State, Cincinnati, Kentucky, Middle Tennessee, Purdue and Toledo, and the Red Devils (3-1) will host Walnut Ridge (Ohio) High School this Thursday night.

AARON ROBERTS, a senior guard from Chicago De La Salle, and the Meteors won 55-28 at home on Friday night against Chicago St. Ignatius Prep. Roberts, who has offers from Illinois, Ball State, New Mexico and Syracuse, and De La Salle (3-1) hosts Westchester (Ill.) St. Joseph High School at 7:30 p.m. this Friday.

LEONARD ROSS, a junior running back at LaGrange (Ill.) Lyons Twp. High School, and the Lions lost 44-7 at home to Glenbard West (Ill.) High School on Friday night. Ross rushed for 85 yards and scored the Lions' lone touchdown on an 80-yard run. Ross, who holds an offer from Illinois and interest from Ball State, Indiana, Minnesota, Western Michigan and Wisconsin, and the Lions (1-3) play at Downers Grove (Ill.) North High School at 7:30 p.m. this Friday.

ANTONIO SHENAULT, a junior cornerback at Lake Park (Ill.) High School, and the Lancers lost 41-12 at Glenbard North (Ill.) High School on Friday night. Shenault, who has an offer from Northern Illinois and interest from Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota and Northwestern, and the Lancers (1-3) will host Wheaton (Ill.) North High School at 7:30 p.m. this Friday.

NATEREACE STRONG, a junior running back from East St. Louis (Ill.) High School, and the Flyers lost 10-6 to O'Fallon (Ill.) High School on Saturday afternoon at home. Strong missed the game with an injury. Strong, who has offers from Illinois, Florida State, Kansas, Michigan State, Missouri and Ohio State, and the Flyers (1-3) will play this Saturday at 1 p.m. at Belleville (Ill.) East High School.

NILE SYKES, a senior linebacker at Lombard Montini (Ill.) High School, and the Broncos beat Wheaton (Ill.) St. Francis High School 30-7 on Friday night at home. Sykes, who has offers from Illinois, Cincinnati, Eastern Michigan, Indiana, Iowa State, Northern Illinois, Purdue, Syracuse, Toledo and Western Michigan, and the Broncos (4-0) will play at Aurora (Ill.) Marmion Academy at 7:30 p.m. this Friday.



ELIJAH TAYLOR, a junior defensive end from Cincinnati Archbishop Moeller High School, and the Fighting Crusaders beat St. Xavier (Ky.) High School 24-12 on Friday night at home. Taylor had seven tackles, including one sack. Taylor, who has offers from Illinois, Michigan State, Ohio and West Virginia, and the Fighting Crusaders (4-0) will host St. Xavier (Ohio) High School this Friday night. 


PARRKER WESTPHAL, a senior cornerback at Bolingbrook (Ill.) High School, and the Raiders won 41-0 at Palos Hills (Ill.) Stagg High School on Friday night. Westphal, who holds multiple offers, has narrowed his list down to Arizona State, Florida, Illinois, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Northwestern, Ohio State and Vanderbilt. Bolingbrook (4-0) will host Joliet (Ill.) West High School at 7:30 p.m. this Friday. 


RENELL WREN, a senior defensive end from Lutheran North (Mo.) High School, and the Crusaders lost 69-35 to John Burroughs High School in St. Louis at home on Saturday afternoon. Wren, who has offers from Illinois, Arizona State, Cincinnati, Kansas, Memphis, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, Northern Illinois, Purdue and Toledo, but has narrowed his top five down to Illinois, Purdue, Arizona State, Mississippi State and Michigan State, and the Crusaders (0-4) will host Lutheran South (Mo.) High School at 1 p.m. this Saturday.
