Weekend Wrap: Hylton dazzles again

Every week during the football season, Illinois football beat writer MATT DANIELS will give a wrap-up of how Illini commits and targets fared during the previous weekend’s games.

Here are a few notes from Week 4.



THE COMMITS

NICK ALLEGRETTI, a center at Lincoln-Way East (Ill.) High School who committed to Illinois on March 11, and the Griffins beat Palos Hill (Ill.) Stagg High School 41-0 on Friday night at home. Allegretti had nine pancake blocks in the victory. Allegretti and Lincoln-Way East (3-0) host Lockport (Ill.) Township High School at 7:30 p.m. this Friday.

GERONIMO ALLISON, a wide receiver at Iowa Western Community College who committed to Illinois on July 25, and the Reivers won 25-0 at North Dakota State College of Science on Saturday afternoon. Allison had two catches for 12 yards. Allison and the Reivers (4-0) host College of DuPage (Ill.) at 1 p.m.this Saturday.

CHAYCE CROUCH, a senior quarterback at Newark (Ohio) Catholic High School who committed to Illinois on May 2, and the Green Wave beat Fisher Catholic (Ohio) High School 42-6 on Friday night. Crouch completed all eight of his pass attempts, including a 34-yard touchdown pass and added an 18-yard touchdown run. Crouch and the Green Wave (2-1) play at Lakewood (Ohio) High School this Friday night.

MATT DOMER, a senior running back at Chicago Mt. Carmel High School who committed to Illinois on July 2, and the Caravan beat Kankakee (Ill.) Bishop McNamara High School 42-0 on Friday night at Gately Stadium in Chicago. Domer ran the opening kickoff back 90 yards for a touchdown. Domer and the Caravan (3-0) host Chicago Brother Rice High School at 7:30 p.m. this Friday night at Gately Stadium.

MIKE DUDEK, a senior wide receiver at Naperville (Ill.) Neuqua Valley High School who committed to Illinois on April 3, and the Wildcats beat South Elgin (Ill.) High School 40-34 on Friday night at home. Dudek had two touchdown catches, including a one-handed 35-yard catch in the final minute for the game-winning touchdown. Dudek and the Wildcats (2-1) resume play at 7:30 p.m. this Friday at home against St. Charles (Ill.) East High School.

JULIAN HYLTON, a senior athlete at Lincoln-Way North (Ill.) High School who committed to Illinois on July 9 and is projected to play cornerback at Illinois, and the Phoenix beat Tinley Park (Ill.) Andrew High School 43-36 at home on Friday night. Hylton rushed for 323 yards on 52 carries and four touchdowns and made three tackles. Hylton now has 792 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns on the season. Hylton and the Phoenix (3-0) get back in action at 7:30 p.m. this Friday at Dolton (Ill.) Thornridge High School.

HENRY McGREW, a senior linebacker at Blue Valley (Kan.) High School who committed to Illinois on June 18, and the Tigers lost 24-15 at home on Thursday night against Bishop Miege (Kan.) High School. McGrew had 13 tackles in the loss. McGrew and Blue Valley (1-1) will play at Salina (Kan.) South High School at 7:30 p.m. this Friday.

TITO ODENIGBO, a senior defensive lineman at Centerville (Ohio) High School who committed to Illinois on March 11, and the Elks won 42-14 at Withrow (Ohio) High School on Friday night. Odenigbo had one tackle in the victory. Odenigbo and the Elks (3-0) host Lebanon (Ohio) High School this Friday night.

AUSTIN ROBERTS, a senior linebacker from Rice Lake (Wis.) High School who committed to Illinois on June 13, and the Warriors won 37-10 at home against Eau Claire (Wis.) North High School. Rice Lake (3-1) plays at Superior (Wis.) High School this Friday night, but the Warriors are without the services of Roberts for the rest of the season after the linebacker tore the ACL in his left knee on Sept. 6.

MALIK TURNER, a senior wide receiver from Springfield (Ill.) Sacred Heart-Griffin High School who committed to Illinois on June 24, and the Cyclones beat Springfield (Ill.) High School 59-0 on Friday night at home. Turner had another big game, catching three passes for 135 yards, including an 88-yard touchdown catch and a 43-yard touchdown catch. Turner and the Cyclones (2-1) will host Taylorville (Ill.) High School at 7 p.m. this Friday.

THE TARGETS
TRENTON BALL, a senior tight end from Midwest City (Okla.) Carl Albert High School, and the Titans won 43-7 at Coweta (Okla.) High School on Friday night. Ball had a 37-yard reception in the win. Ball, who has an offer from Illinois and interest from Indiana, Kansas State, Missouri and Purdue, and the Titans (0-2) will host Duncan (Okla.) High School this Friday night.

KEI BECKHAM, a junior cornerback from Trotwood-Madison (Ohio) High School, and the Rams were off on Friday night. Beckham, who has offers from Illinois, Central Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky and Western Michigan, and the Rams (1-1) play at Kettering (Ohio) Fairmont High School this Friday night.



TERRY BECKNER JR., a junior defensive end from East St. Louis (Ill.) High School, and the Flyers lost 29-28 at Edwardsville (Ill.) High School on Friday night. Beckner, who has offers from Illinois, Cincinnati, Florida, Florida State, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio State, Purdue, Syracuse and Tennessee, and the Flyers (1-2) will host O'Fallon (Ill.) High School at 1 p.m. this Saturday.

JACK BENEVENTI, a junior quarterback at Benet (Ill.) Academy, and the Redwings beat Chicago St. Patrick High School 37-13 at Benedictine University in Lise on Friday night. Beneventi was 17 of 22 for 189 and threw two touchdowns. Beneventi, who has offers from Illinois, Iowa, Louisville, Massachusetts, Notre Dame and Western Michigan, and Benet (3-0) return to the field at 7:30 p.m. this Friday at Crete-Monee (Ill.) High School. 


BRENNAN BOSCH, a junior guard from St. Charles (Ill.) East High School, and the Fighting Saints beat St. Charles (Ill.) North High School 28-21 in overtime on Friday night at home. Bosch, who has an offer from Illinois and interest from Minnesota, and the Fighting Saints (3-0) play at Naperville (Ill.) Neuqua Valley High School at 7:30 p.m. this Friday.

MILES BOYKIN, a junior wide receiver at New Lenox (Ill.) Providence Catholic High School, and the Celtics beat Chicago De La Salle 55-20 on Friday night. Boykin, who has offers from Illinois, Michigan State, Mississippi and Western Michigan, along with interest from Iowa, LSU, Minnesota, Northwestern, Ohio State and Vanderbilt, and the Celtics (2-1) will play at Wilmette (Ill.) Loyola Academy at 1:30 p.m. this Saturday. 



DRE BROWN, a junior running back at DeKalb (Ill.) High School, and the Barbs lost 48-26 to Sycamore (Ill.) High School on Friday night at Northern Illinois University's Huskie Stadium. Brown rushed for 139 yards in DeKalb's second straight loss. Brown, who has offers from Illinois, Kent State, Northern Illinois and Toledo, and the Barbs (1-2) will host Ottawa (Ill.) High School at 7:30 p.m. this Friday.

JAMES BUTLER, a senior running back at Wheaton (Ill.) St. Francis High School, and the Spartans won 49-0 at Palos Heights (Ill.) Chicago Christian High School on Friday night. Butler had 93 rushing yards on four carries and scored on touchdown runs of 82 and 3 yards. Butler, who has interest from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa and Purdue, along with offers from Nevada and Temple, and the Spartans (2-1) will play at Lombard (Ill.) Montini High School at 7:30 p.m. this Friday.

JB BUTLER, a senior guard from Joliet Catholic (Ill.) Academy, and the Hilltoppers beat Arlington Heights (Ill.) St. Viator High School 35-20 at home on Friday night. Butler, who has offers from several FCS schools and interest from Illinois, Indiana, Miami (Ohio), North Carolina State, Northern Illinois and Syracuse, and Joliet Catholic (3-0) will play at 1:30 p.m. this Saturday at LaGrange Park (Ill.) Nazareth Academy.

NICK CONNER, a junior linebacker from Dublin (Ohio) Scioto High School, and the Irish lost 30-28 in overtime at Marysville (Ohio) High School on Friday night. Conner had 16 rushing yards on seven carries and had a nine-yard reception. Conner, who has offers from Illinois and Kentucky, along with interest from Ohio State, Penn State and Purdue, and the Irish (3-0) will host Westerville (Ohio) Central High School this Friday night. 


MICAH DEW-TREADWAY, a junior defensive end at Bolingbrook (Ill.) High School, and the Raiders beat Joliet (Ill.) Central High School 50-0 on Friday night at home. Dew-Treadway, who has an offer from Mississippi State and interest from Illinois, Cincinnati, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan State, Mississippi and Texas, and the Raiders (3-0) play at Palos Hills (Ill.) Stagg High School at 7 p.m. this Friday. 



DAVID EDWARDS, a junior quarterback at Downers Grove (Ill.) North High School, and the Trojans lost 21-0 at home to Glenbard West (Ill.) High School on Friday night. Edwards, who has offers from Illinois, Indiana and Vanderbilt, and Downers Grove North (2-1) play at Oak Park-River Forest (Ill.) High School at 7:30 p.m. this Friday.

JIMMY FITZGERALD, a junior quarterback at Champaign (Ill.) Centennial High School, and the Chargers lost 35-19 at Danville (Ill.) High School on Friday night. Fitzgerald was 15 of 27 for 183 yards and two touchdown passes. Fitzgerald, who has offers from Illinois and Yale, along with interest from Duke, Indiana, North Carolina and others, and Centennial (1-2) get back in action at 7 p.m. this Friday with a home game against Normal (Ill.) Community High School. 



JEFF GEORGE JR., a senior quarterback at Warren Central (Ind.) High School, and the Warriors won 24-7 at Ben Davis (Ind.) High School on Friday night. George was 10 of 16 for 171 yards and threw two touchdowns. George, who has a grayshirt scholarship offer from Illinois and interest from Akron, Cincinnati, Indiana, Louisville and Purdue, and the Warriors (3-1) host Indianapolis North Central High School this Friday night. 



DARRIN HALL, a junior running back at Austintown (Ohio) Fitch High School, and the Falcons won 28-14 at Brunswick (Ohio) High School on Friday night, but Hall was limited to only 4 rushing yards on 19 carries. Hall, who has offers from Illinois, Arkansas, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan State, Nebraska and Purdue, and the Falcons (3-0) will host Dover (Ohio) High School this Friday night.



ADOREE' JACKSON, a senior cornerback and wide receiver at Junipero Serra (Calif.) High School, and the Cavaliers beat Sherman Oaks (Calif.) Notre Dame High School 20-13 on Friday night at home. Jackson had four tackles and hauled in an 80-yard touchdown reception. Jackson, who has offers from Illinois, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Tennessee, UCLA and USC, and the Cavaliers (3-0) will host Dorsey High School out of Los Angeles this Friday night.

RODERICK JOHNSON, a senior offensive tackle from Hazelwood (Mo.) Central High School, and the Hawks beat McCluer North (Mo.) High School 41-27 on Saturday. Johnson, who has offers from Illinois, Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Florida State, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas State, Michigan, Michigan State, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas A&M and Wisconsin, and the Hawks (3-0) play at Hazelwood West (Mo.) High School at 1 p.m. this Saturday.

DARRIN KIRKLAND, a junior linebacker at Lawrence Central (Ind.) High School, and the Bears lost 17-7 to Carmel (Ind.) High School on Friday night at Lucas Oil Stadium. Kirkland, who has offers from Illinois, Akron, Indiana, Louisville and Toledo, and the Bears (3-1) host Center Grove (Ind.) High School this Friday night. 



KENNY JONES, a senior wide receiver at Lawrence Central (Ind.) High School, and the Bears lost 17-7 to Carmel (Ind.) High School on Friday night at Lucas Oil Stadium. Jones, who has offers from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa State and Louisville, and the Bears (3-1) host Center Grove (Ind.) High School this Friday night. 



SIMEON LANE, a junior defensive tackle from Cincinnati St. Xavier High School, and the Bombers beat Brentwood (Tenn.) Academy 23-0 at home on Friday night. Lane had one tackle in the win. Lane, who has an offer from Illinois and interest from Boston College, Minnesota and Northwestern, and the Bombers (2-1) will host Indianapolis Cathedral High School this Friday night. 


HUNTER LITTLEJOHN, a junior guard at Olentangy (Ohio) Liberty High School, and the Patriots lost 31-14 at Uniontown (Ohio) Lake High School on Friday night. Littlejohn, who has offers from Illinois, Boston College and Indiana, and the Patriots (1-2) play this Friday night at home against Grove City (Ohio) Central Crossing High School.

MADRE LONDON, a senior running back at St. Thomas Aquinas (Fla.) High School, and the Raiders beat John Curtis (La.) Christian School 27-13 on Friday night at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, snapping the Patriots' 29-game winning streak. London rushed for 101 yards on 12 carries and had touchdown runs of 61 yards and 1 yard. London, who has offers from Illinois, Michigan State, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Virginia and Wisconsin, and the Raiders (2-0) resume play this Friday night at home against Miramar (Fla.) High School. 


ANTHONY McKEE, a junior linebacker at Walnut Ridge (Ohio) High School, and the Scots beat Beechcroft (Ohio) High School 24-0 on Friday night at home. McKee helped the defense pitch a shutout while contributing on special teams with a 45-yard touchdown pass of a fake punt before he added a 20-yard run on another fake punt. McKee, who has offers from Illinois, Arkansas, Boston College, Bowling Green, Kentucky, Tennessee, Toledo and West Virginia, and the Scots (2-1) play at Columbus (Ohio) South High School this Friday night. 


GABE MEGGINSON, a junior offensive tackle at Jacksonville (Ill.) High School, and the Crimsons won 50-26 at Springfield (Ill.) Lanphier High School on Friday night. Megginson, who has offers from Illinois, Akron, Indiana, Northern Illinois and Wisconsin, and the Crimsons (2-1) play at Springfield (Ill.) Southeast High School at 7 p.m. this Friday. 



KENTRAIL MORAN, a sophomore running back at O'Fallon (Ill.) High School, and the Panthers beat Alton (Ill.) High School 21-7 at home on Friday night. Moran finished with 168 yards on 26 carries, including a 67-yard touchdown run. Moran, who has an offer from Illinois and Northern Illinois along with interest from Alabama, Cincinnati, Florida, Indiana, Iowa and Tennessee, and O'Fallon (2-1) plays at 1 p.m. this Saturday at East St. Louis (Ill.) High School. 



FLYNN NAGEL, a junior wide receiver at Chicago Marist High School, and the RedHawks beat LaGrange Park (Ill.) Nazareth Academy 45-37 on Friday night at home. Nagel, who has offers from Illinois and Indiana, along with interest from Iowa, Michigan, Northern Illinois, Northwestern, Ohio State, Vanderbilt and Western Michigan, and the RedHawks (2-1) play Chicago St. Patrick High School at 11:30 a.m. this Saturday at Hanson Stadium in Chicago.

QUINN OSELAND, a junior offensive tackle at Springfield (Ill.) Sacred Heart-Griffin High School, and the Cyclones beat Springfield (Ill.) High School 59-0 on Friday night at home. Oseland, who has interest from Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Vanderbilt and Wisconsin, and the Cyclones (2-1) will host Taylorville (Ill.) High School at 7 p.m. this Friday.



MARTESSE PATTERSON, a senior guard from Marion-Franklin (Ohio) High School, and the Red Devils lost 28-14 at Bishop Hartley (Ohio) High School on Friday night. Patterson, who has offers from Illinois, Akron, Ball State, Cincinnati, Kentucky, Middle Tennessee, Purdue and Toledo, and the Red Devils (2-1) will host Columbus (Ohio) Independence High School this Friday night.



FRANK RAGNOW, a senior offensive tackle from Chanhassen (Minn.) High School, and the Storm won 28-21 on Friday night at Academy of Holy Angels in Richfield, Minn. Ragnow, who has offers from Illinois, Arkansas, California, Florida State, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Pittsburgh, South Florida and Vanderbilt, and the Storm (1-2) will host Northfield (Minn.) High School this Friday night.

AARON ROBERTS, a senior guard from Chicago De La Salle, and the Meteors lost 55-20 at New Lenox (Ill.) Providence Catholic High School on Friday night. Roberts, who has offers from Illinois, Ball State, New Mexico and Syracuse, and De La Salle (2-1) hosts Chicago St. Ignatius Prep at 7:30 p.m. this Friday.

LEONARD ROSS, a junior running back at LaGrange (Ill.) Lyons Twp. High School, and the Lions won 31-14 at Leyden (Ill.) High School on Friday night. Ross rushed for 220 yards on 17 carries and three touhchdowns. Ross, who holds an offer from Illinois and interest from Ball State, Indiana, Minnesota, Western Michigan and Wisconsin, and the Lions (1-2) host Glenbard West (Ill.) High School at 7:30 p.m. this Friday.

ANTONIO SHENAULT, a junior cornerback at Lake Park (Ill.) High School, and the Lancers lost 36-0 at Naperville (Ill.) Central High School on Friday night. Shenault, who has an offer from Northern Illinois and interest from Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota and Northwestern, and the Lancers (1-2) return to the field at 7:30 p.m. this Friday at Glenbard North (Ill.) High School. 



NATEREACE STRONG, a junior running back from East St. Louis (Ill.) High School, and the Flyers lost 29-28 at Edwardsville (Ill.) High School on Friday night. Strong, who has offers from Illinois, Florida State, Kansas, Michigan State, Missouri and Ohio State, and the Flyers (1-2) will host O'Fallon (Ill.) High School at 1 p.m. this Saturday. 



NILE SYKES, a senior linebacker at Lombard Montini (Ill.) High School, and the Broncos beat Wheaton (Ill.) Academy 56-0 on Friday night at Wheaton College. Sykes, who has offers from Illinois, Cincinnati, Eastern Michigan, Indiana, Iowa State, Northern Illinois, Purdue, Syracuse, Toledo and Western Michigan, and the Broncos (3-0) will host Wheaton (Ill.) St. Francis High School at 7:30 p.m. this Friday. 



ELIJAH TAYLOR, a junior defensive end from Cincinnati Archbishop Moeller High School, and the Fighting Crusaders beat St. Michael College from Toronto 64-13 on Saturday afternoon. Taylor, who has offers from Illinois, Michigan State, Ohio and West Virginia, and the Fighting Crusaders (3-0) will host St. Xavier (Ky.) High School this Friday night. 


PARRKER WESTPHAL, a senior cornerback at Bolingbrook (Ill.) High School, and the Raiders beat Joliet (Ill.) Central High School 50-0 on Friday night at home. Westphal, who holds multiple offers, has narrowed his list down to Arizona State, Florida, Illinois, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Northwestern, Ohio State and Vanderbilt. Bolingbrook (3-0) plays at Palos Hills (Ill.) Stagg High School at 7 p.m. this Friday.

RENELL WREN, a senior defensive end from Lutheran North (Mo.) High School, and the Crusaders lost 31-14 at Westminster Christian (Mo.) Academy on Saturday. Wren, who has offers from Illinois, Arizona State, Cincinnati, Kansas, Memphis, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, Northern Illinois, Purdue and Toledo, and the Crusaders (0-3) host John Burroughs High School in St. Louis at 2 p.m. this Saturday.
