Weekend Wrap: DeKalb's Brown dazzles again

Each week during the football season, Illinois football beat writer Matt Daniels will recap how commits and targets for Tim Beckman's program fared during the previous weekend's worth of games.

The commits

DRE BROWN, a senior running back at DeKalb (Ill.) High School who committed to Illinois on March 7, and the Barbs beat Sycamore (Ill.) High School 55-40 on Friday night at Northern Illinois University's Huskie Stadium. Brown rushed for 254 yards, including touchdown runs of 29, 71 and 51 yards. Brown and the Barbs (4-0) return to the field at 7:15 p.m. this Friday at Maple Park (Ill.) Kaneland High School.

REGGIE CORBIN, a senior running back at Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga College High School who committed to Illinois on May 27, and the Eagles won 51-0 at Washington (D.C.) McKinley Tech High School on Friday night. Corbin and the Eagles (4-0) are slated to host Olney (Md.) Good Counsel High School at 1 p.m. this Saturday.

ANDREW DAVIS, a sophomore tight end at Iowa Western Community College who committed to Illinois on June 1, and the Reivers beat Dodge City (Kan.) Community College 57-14 on Saturday afternoon at home. Davis had two catches for 22 yards, including a 16-yard touchdown reception. Davis and the Reivers (4-0) are back in action at 2:30 p.m. this Saturday at home against Ellsworth (Iowa) Community College.

HENRY ENYENIHI, a sophomore running back at Sacramento (Calif.) City College who committed to Illinois on July 3, and the Panthers lost 32-31 at home to Santa Rosa (Calif.) Junior College on Saturday night. Enyenihi rushed for 64 yards on 10 carries, including a 30-yard touchdown run. Enyenihi and the Panthers (1-2) resume play at 8 p.m. this Saturday at Modesto (Calif.) Junior College.

JIMMY FITZGERALD, a senior quarterback at Champaign (Ill.) Centennial High School who committed to Illinois on Feb. 1, and the Chargers beat rival Champaign (Ill.) Central High School 40-14 on Friday night at Tommy Stewart Field in Champaign. Fitzgerald is out for the season after he tore the ACL in his right knee during Centennial's 42-13 win at home against Marion (Ill.) High School on Sept. 6. Fitzgerald finishes the season 26 of 33 with 433 passing yards, four touchdowns and one interception while adding 153 rushing yards on 17 carries and five touchdowns. The Chargers (4-0) are back in action at 7 p.m. this Friday at home against Bloomington (Ill.) High School.

ZACH HEATH, a sophomore offensive lineman at American River (Calif.) College who committed to Illinois on July 1, and the Beavers won 19-10 at San Joaquin Delta (Calif.) College on Saturday. Heath and the Beavers (3-0) host the City College of San Francisco at 8 p.m. this Saturday.

ZEKE MARTIN, a senior offensive lineman at Medina (Ohio) High School who committed to Illinois on June 18, and the Bees lost 28-27 at Garfield Heights (Ohio) High School on Friday night. Martin and the Bees (1-3) return to the field at 6 p.m. this Friday at North Royalton (Ohio) High School.

SAM MAYS, a senior wide receiver at The Kinkaid School in Houston who committed to Illinois on July 6, and the Falcons beat Houston Worthing High School 61-28 on Friday night at home. Mays and the Falcons (2-2) are scheduled to play at Irvin (Texas) Cistercian Prep at 7 p.m. this Friday.

GABE MEGGINSON, a senior offensive lineman at Jacksonville (Ill.) High School who committed to Illinois on April 25, and the Crimsons lost 39-34 at Springfield (Ill.) High School on Friday night. Megginson and the Crimsons (1-3) get back in action at 7 p.m. this Friday with a home game against Decatur (Ill.) Eisenhower High School.

A.D. MILLER, a senior wide receiver at Dallas Bishop Dunne Catholic School who committed to Illinois on July 5, and the Falcons won 64-0 at Dallas Roosevelt High School on Friday night. Miller had a 14-yard touchdown catch in the win. Miller and the Falcons (3-0) resume play at 7:30 p.m. this Friday at Plano (Texas) John Paull II High School.

PAT NELSON, a senior defensive back at Chicago Hales Franciscan High School who committed to Illinois on June 25, and the Spartans claimed a 1-0 forfeit victory against Chicago St. Francis de Sales High School on Friday night. Nelson and the Spartans (3-1) host Wheaton (Ill.) St. Francis High School at 6:30 p.m. this Saturday.

CALEB REAMS, a senior tight end at Gurnee (Ill.) Warren High School who committed to Illinois on Aug. 9, and the Blue Devils beat Libertyville (Ill.) High School 43-26 at home on Friday night. Reams caught two touchdown passes in the win. Reams and the Blue Devils (2-2) play at 7:30 p.m. this Friday at Mundelein (Ill.) High School.

ADAM SOLOMON, a senior offensive lineman at Indianapolis Bishop Chatard High School who committed to Illinois on May 31, and the Trojans beat Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter High School 49-0 on Friday evening at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Solomon and the Trojans (4-1) are slated to play Noblesville (Ind.) High School at 6 p.m. this Friday at Indianapolis Lawrence North High School.

Targets to watch

WESLEY ANNAN, a senior defensive tackle at Lake Forest (Ill.) Academy, and the Caxys beat Chicago DePaul College Prep 28-20 at home on Saturday. Annan, who has offers from Ball State, Boston College, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Duke, Illinois, Maryland, Miami (Ohio), Mississippi State, New Mexico, Rutgers, Syracuse, Toledo, Tulane, Virginia, Western Michigan and Wyoming, and the Caxys (1-3) will play Westchester (Ill.) St. Joseph High School at 1 p.m. this Saturday at Elmhurst College.

DORANCE ARMSTRONG, a senior defensive end at Galena Park (Texas) North Shore High School, and the Mustangs lost 29-21 at home to Euless (Texas) Trinity High School on Friday night. Armstrong, who has offers from California, Houston, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Memphis, Michigan State, Northwestern and Oregon State, and the Mustangs (1-3) play next at 7 p.m. this Friday at Beaumont (Texas) West Brook High School.

RASHOD BERRY, a senior defensive end at Lorain (Ohio) High School, and the Titans beat Toledo (Rogers) High School 55-26 at home on Friday night. Berry had two touchdowns in the win. SHAWN CURTIS, a senior linebacker from Doral (Fla.) Ronald Reagan High School, and the Bison beat Hialeah (Fla.) Gardens High School 35-0 on Saturday night at home. SEAN FOSTER, a junior offensive lineman at Mundelein (Ill.) Carmel High School, and the Corsairs won 41-0 at Chicago Heights (Ill.) Marian Catholic High School on Friday night. Foster, who has offers from Buffalo, California, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Nebraska, Nevada, North Carolina State, Northern Illinois, Purdue, Syracuse and Toledo, and the Corsairs (2-2) are set to host Chicago St. Patrick High School at 7:30 p.m. this Friday.

STEVEN FRANK, a junior quarterback at Oswego (Ill.) High School, and the Panthers won 28-14 at Minooka (Ill.) High School on Friday night. Frank didn’t play because of an injury. Frank, who has offers from Illinois and Miami (Ohio), and the Panthers (3-1) return to the field at 7 p.m. this Friday at home against Romeoville (Ill.) High School.

DESMOND FITZPATRICK, a junior wide receiver at Farmington (Mich.) High School, and the Falcons won 55-14 at Ferndale (Mich.) High School on Friday night. Fitzpatrick scored on a 31-yard touchdown run and had two interceptions on defense.
