Weekend Wrap: Reams produces for Warren

Each week during the football season, Illinois football beat writer Matt Daniels will recap how commits and targets for Tim Beckman's program fared during the previous weekend's worth of games.

The commits

DRE BROWN, a senior running back at DeKalb (Ill.) High School who committed to Illinois on March 7, and the Barbs kept their perfect season intact with a 37-34 victory at Maple Park (Ill.) Kaneland High School on Friday night. Brown rushed for 149 yards on 22 carries and one touchdown in the win. Brown and the Barbs (5-0) will try to clinch a playoff berth when they host Morris (Ill.) High School at 7 p.m. this Friday.

REGGIE CORBIN, a senior running back at Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga College High School who committed to Illinois on May 27, and the Eagles lost 17-7 to Olney (Md.) Good Counsel High School on Saturday afternoon at Washington (D.C.) Coolidge High School. Corbin scored the lone touchdown for the Eagles on a 17-yard reception. Corbin and the Eagles (4-1) are off this weekend before playing at Washington (D.C.) Archbishop Carroll High School at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11.

ANDREW DAVIS, a sophomore tight end at Iowa Western Community College who committed to Illinois on June 1, and the Reivers won 42-27 at home against Ellsworth (Iowa) Community College on Saturday afternoon. Davids had one reception for 1 yard in the win. Davis and the Reivers (5-0) return to the field at 1 p.m. this Saturday at Garden City (Kan.) Community College.

HENRY ENYENIHI, a sophomore running back at Sacramento (Calif.) City College who committed to Illinois on July 3, and the Panthers won 34-27 at Modesto (Calif.) Junior College on Saturday night. Enyenihi rushed for 30 yards on 13 carries and two catches for 9 yards. Enyenihi and the Panthers (2-2) will host Chabot (Calif.) College at 8 p.m. this Saturday.

JIMMY FITZGERALD, a senior quarterback at Champaign (Ill.) Centennial High School who committed to Illinois on Feb. 1, and the Chargers became playoff-eligible with a 47-21 home win against Bloomington (Ill.) High School on Friday night. Fitzgerald is out for the season after he tore the ACL in his right knee during Centennial's 42-13 win at home against Marion (Ill.) High School on Sept. 6. Fitzgerald finished the season 26 of 33 with 433 passing yards, four touchdowns and one interception while adding 153 rushing yards on 17 carries and five touchdowns. The Chargers (5-0) will try to clinch a playoff berth at 7 p.m. this Friday at Urbana (Ill.) High School.

ZACH HEATH, a sophomore offensive lineman at American River (Calif.) College who committed to Illinois on July 1, and the Beavers beat the City College of San Francisco 13-0 on Saturday night. Heath and the Beavers (4-0) are back in action at 8 p.m. this Saturday at home against College of San Mateo (Calif).

ZEKE MARTIN, a senior offensive lineman at Medina (Ohio) High School who committed to Illinois on June 18, and the Bees lost 21-20 at North Royalton (Ohio) High School on Friday night. Martin and the Bees play at 6 p.m. this Friday at Strongsville (Ohio) at 6 p.m. this Friday.

SAM MAYS, a senior wide receiver at The Kinkaid School in Houston who committed to Illinois on July 6, and the Falcons won 62-21 at Irving (Texas) Cistercian Prep on Friday night. Mays and the Falcons (3-2) are slated to host Bellaire (Texas) Episcopal High School at 7 p.m. this Thursday.

GABE MEGGINSON, a senior offensive lineman at Jacksonville (Ill.) High School who committed to Illinois on April 25, and the Crimsons beat Decatur (Ill.) Eisenhower 42-20 on Friday night at home. Megginson and the Crimsons (2-3) will play at Decatur (Ill.) MacArthur High School at 7 p.m. this Friday.

A.D. MILLER, a senior wide receiver at Dallas Bishop Dunne Catholic School who committed to Illinois on July 5, and the Falcons shut out Plano (Texas) John Paul II High School 47-0 in a road win Friday night. Miller and the Falcons (4-0) resume play at 7:30 p.m. this Friday at Forth Worth (Texas) Nolan Catholic High School.

PAT NELSON, a senior defensive back at Chicago Hales Franciscan High School who committed to Illinois on June 25, and the Spartans lost 29-0 at home to Wheaton (Ill.) St. Francis High School on Saturday night. Nelson and the Spartans (3-2) are back in action at 7:30 p.m. this Friday at Kankakee (Ill.) McNamara High School.

CALEB REAMS, a senior tight end at Gurnee (Ill.) Warren High School who committed to Illinois on Aug. 9, and the Blue Devils won 42-12 at Mundelein (Ill.) High School on Friday night. Reams had five receptions for 74 yards and two touchdowns in the win. Reams and the Blue Devils (3-2) will host Lake Forest (Ill.) High School at 7 p.m. this Thursday.

ADAM SOLOMON, a senior offensive lineman at Indianapolis Bishop Chatard High School who committed to Illinois on May 31, and the Trojans beat Noblesville (Ind.) High School 24-14 Friday night at Indianapolis Lawrence North High School. Solomon and the Trojans (5-1) are set to play at 6 p.m. this Friday at Cincinnati Winton Woods High School.

JUSTICE WILLIAMS, a senior linebacker at Frisco (Texas) Wakeland High School who committed to Illinois on Sept. 24, and the Wolverines beat Liberty (Texas) High School 17-3 on Friday night at Toyota Stadium in Frisco. Williams and the Wolverines (3-1) are back in action at 7 p.m. this Friday at Little Elm (Texas) High School.

Targets to watch

WESLEY ANNAN, a senior defensive tackle at Lake Forest (Ill.) Academy, and the Caxys beat Westchester (Ill.) St. Joseph High School 50-14 on Saturday at Elmhurst College. Annan, who has offers from Ball State, Boston College, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Duke, Illinois, Maryland, Miami (Ohio), Mississippi State, New Mexico, Rutgers, Syracuse, Toledo, Tulane, Virginia, Western Michigan and Wyoming, and the Caxys (2-3) are scheduled to play at Chicago De La Salle High School at 7:30 p.m. this Friday.

DORANCE ARMSTRONG, a senior defensive end at Galena Park (Texas) North Shore High School, and the Mustangs won 29-27 at Beaumont (Texas) West Brook High School on Friday night. Armstrong, who has offers from California, Houston, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Memphis, Michigan State, Northwestern and Oregon State, and the Mustangs (2-3) are off this weekend before playing again at 7 p.m. on Oct. 10 in a home game against Channelview (Texas) High School.

RASHOD BERRY, a senior defensive end at Lorain (Ohio) High School, and the Titans lost 43-12 at East Cleveland (Ohio) Shaw High School on Friday night. Berry, who has offers from Akron, Bowling Green, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kent State, Miami (Ohio), Minnesota, Syracuse and Toledo, and the Titans (3-2) will try to bounce back at 6 p.m. this Friday at Bedford (Ohio) High School.

TUF BORLAND, a junior linebacker at Bolingbrook (Ill.) High School, and the Raiders won 50-14 at Joliet (Ill.) West High School on Saturday afternoon. Borland, who has offers from Illinois and Massachusetts, and the Raiders (4-1) will play at 7 p.m. this Friday at Lockport (Ill.) Township High School.

DESMOND CAIN, a senior cornerback at Delray Beach (Fla.) American Heritage School, and the Stallions easily won 55-0 at Lehigh Acres (Fla.) East Lee County High School on Friday night. Cain, who has offers from Bowling Green, Cincinnati, Illinois, Rutgers, South Florida, SMU and Virginia, and the Stallions (3-1) resume play at 6 p.m. this Thursday at home against Pahokee (Fla.) High School.

SHAWN CURTIS, a senior linebacker from Doral (Fla.) Ronald Reagan High School, and the Bison were off this past weekend. STEVEN FRANK, a junior quarterback at Oswego (Ill.) High School, and the Panthers beat Romeoville (Ill.) High School 37-28 at home on Friday night. Frank didn’t play because of an injury. CHRIS HART, a senior linebacker at Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas High School, and the Raiders won 59-0 at Davie (Fla.) Nova High School on Friday night. KENTRAIL MORAN, a junior running back at O'Fallon (Ill.) High School, and the Panthers lost 69-31 to Belleville (Ill.) West High School on Saturday afternoon at home. Moran didn’t play as he recovers from a concussion. Moran, who has offers from Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Northern Illinois and Syracuse, and the Panthers (2-3) will try to end their two-game losing streak at 7 p.m. this Friday at home against Collinsville (Ill.) High School.

QUENTIN MOON, a senior linebacker at Indianapolis Pike High School, and the Red Devils lost 41-20 at home to Indianapolis Warren Central High School on Friday night. Moon, who has an offer from Illinois, and the Red Devils (2-4) will try to snap their four-game losing skid at 7 p.m. this Friday at home against Greenwood (Ind.) Center Grove High School.

CHARLIE ROGERS, a Class of 2015 defensive back at Iowa Western Community College, and the Reivers beat Ellsworth (Iowa) Community College 42-27 at home on Saturday afternoon. Rogers, who has offers from Georgia State, Idaho, Illinois, Miami (Ohio), Minnesota, North Texas, Ohio, Old Dominion, South Alabama and Utah State, and the Reivers (5-0) return to the field at 1 p.m. this Saturday at Garden City (Kan.) DONTA THOMPSON, a senior wide receiver at Ennis (Texas) High School, and the Lions won 42-24 at Jacksonville (Texas) High School on Friday night. Thompson had a 67-yard touchdown catch in the win. Thompson, who has offers from Arkansas State, Colorado, Illinois, Texas State, Texas San Antonio and Texas El Paso, and the Lions (2-2) are set to host Nacogdoches (Texas) High School at 7:30 p.m. this Friday.

BRECK TURNER, a senior running back at Norwalk (Ohio) High School, and the Truckers beat Ontario (Ohio) High School 40-7 at home on Friday night. Turner rushed for 218 yards on only seven carries. Turner, who has offers from Akron, Ball State, Eastern Michigan, Illinois, Kent State, Marshall, Minnesota, Navy, Toledo and Western Michigan, and the Truckers (5-0) will try to keep their perfect season going at 6 p.m. this Friday at Sandusky (Ohio) High School.

NOAH TURNER, a junior tight end at Mundelein (Ill.) Carmel High School, and the Corsairs beat Chicago St. Patrick High School 28-20 on Friday night at home. Turner had three catches for 100 yards in the win. Turner, who has offers from Illinois and Indiana, and the Corsairs (3-2) are back in action at 7:30 p.m. this Friday at Arlington Heights (Ill.) St. Viator High School.

KESHAWN VAUGHN, a senior running back at Nashville (Tenn.) Pearl Cohn High School, and the Firebirds beat Gallatin (Tenn.) Station Camp High School 58-17 at home on Friday night. Vaughn rushed for 186 yards on 17 carries and three touchdowns. Vaughn, who has offers from Arkansas State, California, Duke, East Carolina, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisville, Purdue, Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Wisconsin, and the Firebirds (5-1) are back in action at 7 p.m. this Friday at home against Nashville (Tenn.) Whites Creek High School.
