Mosely's hands prove steady

The common perception is most defensive backs can't catch the football.

That is, after all, why they're on defense and not breaking down the field in search of finding the end zone, right?

In Darius Mosely's case, the senior from O'Fallon (Ill.) High School, probably won't hear any grief this fall.

Illinois targets, prep players litter Rivals' Top 150

The Illinois basketball staff has extended scholarship offers to Jahlil Okafor, Cliff Alexander, Kevon Looney and Jaquan Lyle, some of the more highly regarded Class of 2014 prospects.

Those players — who are in the top 20 on Rivals.com's recently released top 150 players for the Class of 2014 — would be dream catches for new head coach John Groce and his staff.

Weekend Wrap — O'Fallon's Mosely produces in win

Every week during the prep football season, IlliniHQ will give a wrap-up of how Illini commits and targets fared during the previous weekend's games. Here are a few notes from week 3.

THE COMMITS

Tracking the Class of 2014

The chance to land Marian Catholic (Ind.) High School senior Demetrius Jackson as Illinois' point guard of the future is an imminent priority for head coach John Groce.

And a major topic of conversation for Illini faithful concerning the Mishawaka, Ind., native.

Father's message to Bailey: stay humble

Watching from the stands at Bolingbrook (Ill.) High School or any other Chicago suburban high school football field, Oliver Bailey sees the same attributes others see in his son, Aaron Bailey, the senior quarterback for the Raiders and Illinois commit.

The electric feet.

The shiftiness and mobility to escape would-be tacklers.

The steady arm.

The presence.

Wolves' Class of 2015 quartet stay busy

The Illinois Wolves basketball club is broken up into four different age categories.

Players are separated onto a 14-and-under team, 15-and-under team, 16-and-under team and 17-and-under team.

Bates-Diop with 'dominating July'

Nnanna Egwu, Joseph Bertrand and Tracy Abrams are all current Illinois players that double as alums of Mike Mullins' Illinois Wolves basketball club.

It appears the Wolves' connection to the program is continuing with new Illinois head coach John Groce.

"They've had quite a few of them on campus recently within the last month," Mullins said.
