End-of-summer blues

Today is one of the most beautiful not-too-hot, not-too-cold days we've had in awhile. And it may be one of the last. I'm not the meteorologist (you can find his blog on this site, though), but I think if you've got time to spend outside, do it. Immediately.

And if you're not sure what fun can be had, here's some suggestions -- many of which are free:

-Take a walk at Meadowbrook Park
-Bicycle to Homer Lake or wherever's your nearest pretty route
-Grab an iced coffee and stroll around the downtown of your choice
-Go for a dunk in Sholem or Crystal Lake pools, or check out the outdoor pool in Rantoul
-See if the river at Kickapoo State Park has enough water for a canoe trip, then get the paddle (or two)
-Walk the Quad before the stress of classes kicks in
-Walk through the botanical gardens at Lake of the Woods
-Find your favorite swingset and see if it still works
-Custard Cup, among other summer-treat favorite, has tables for relaxing over something sweet
-Call up the friend you haven't talked to in too long and wander the neighborhood catching up

That's a start. How are you going to enjoy this week's weather?

Amy
