Generally, I don't cover sports, even if they're happening in the schools I cover. But I got a press release this morning from the Urbana school district about this fundraiser at Friday night's basketball game vs. Central, and I thought I'd share it.
The game is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 17, at Urbana Middle School, and it's the annual breast cancer awareness game, “Hoopin’ for Hope." The sophomore game begins at 6 p.m. and the varsity game begins at 7:30 p.m.
"During the game, the Urbana Basketball Boosters will be selling T-shirts, donation stickers, day planners, and 50-50 tickets to raise money with all proceeds donated to breast cancer research," the press release stated. "The goal for this year’s fundraiser is to raise at least $1,000. Shirts can be purchased ahead of time through the UHS administration office or at any UHS home game."
You can also send a donation, even if you can't attend. Make your check out to Urbana Basketball Boosters, and call the administrative office at 384-3505 for more information.
