Jefferson Middle School students take Spring Break trip to Washington, D.C.

I always like to hear about what student groups are up to, and after hearing about Jefferson Middle School students' trip to Washington, D.C., over spring break, I thought I'd include something about it here.

Here's Jefferson Middle School teacher Jan Niccum's account of the trip.

Blog Photo"A group of 52 students and parents left Jefferson Middle School on Sunday, March 18, by motorcoach headed to historic sites in the East," he wrote. "Our first stop was Gettysburg and a tour of the visitor's center and battlefield.  Next, we went to Washington, D.C., for stops at:

  • the White House
  • the House of Representatives (guests of Tim Johnson)
  • Ford's Theatre and the Peterson House/Museum
  • Air and Space Museum
  • Arlington Cemetery
  • the National Cathedral
  • and the memorials to Lincoln, King, FDR, Vietnam, Korea, and (World War) II

"After our time in D.C., we went to Colonial Williamsburg and Monticello, Jefferson's home in Virginia. The group returned to Champaign Thursday, March 22, with many great memories."
