Adam Rittenberg was the college football writer at the Daily Herald in Arlington Heights, so maybe that helped Illinois' case. Either way, Rittenberg ranked the Big Ten football teams in terms of how much their hated, and Ron Zook's Illini checked in at sixth. Not bad considering how rudely they treated most of the Big Ten last year. For Rittenberg's complete rankings, head here .

Thanks for the link. Of course, if John L. Smith were still around, MSU would be in the top three easily.
I think Rittenberg ranks Illinois way too low. By last November the haters were out in full force on the ESPN discussion boards. Give Illinois one more BCS season, and it will switch places with Penn State, maybe Michigan.
