You know Illinois football is back on the radar when NBA stars are talking the program up.

In a recent Q&A, Andre Iguodala brought up Juice Williams — or is it Bruce Williams? — as his favorite college quarterback, dismissing Heisman winner Tim Tebow in the process.

Iguodala is from Springfield — and almost played his college basketball at Illinois — so he has a reason to be biased. Still, it's pretty interesting reading.

Meanwhile, did you know Deron Williams was born in West Virginia? His mother, Denise, was an outstanding basketball player in the state.

The story is a bit off on the year Illinois went to the Final Four, but does mention UI assistant coach Gary Nottingham. Read here .

Of course it is. It ran in Sports, and Sports people don't check years.

This week, USA Today had a charticle about the Madden game curse. You would think the Madden 09 game coming out in 2008 would tip them off that the game is set ahead one year. But no. So we had Barry Sanders retiring in 2000, Eddie George fumbling in 2001 (which technically is right), Daunte Culpepper hurting his knee in 2002, etc. All one year off.

You can't rely on Sports for correct years.
