Illinois is a headline-maker in The Sporting News college football special, which hits newstands as early as Wednesday. Among the highlights:

- Ron Zook's Illini start the season ranked No. 10, the second-highest Big Ten team behind No. 2 Ohio State (Georgia is No. 1).

- Arrelious Benn is profiled as one of the nation's game-breakers (along with Missouri's Jeremy Maclin).

- Illinois and USC will meet again in the Rose Bowl.
