Want to relive your high school track and field days?

Urbana High School is hosting an open track meet next Friday, July 30, to benefit its cross-country program.

The “Run Like a Tiger” Invite is open to anyone, regardless of how long it’s been since you were in high school. But you must register by noon Tuesday.

The event at the UHS track, 1002 S. Race St., U., begins at 4:30 p.m. with a Tiny Tigers 50-meter dash for kids 5 years old and younger.

The other races start at 5 p.m., with a 100-meter dash, followed by the 800-meter run, 400-meter dash, 1600-meter run, 4 x 400-meter relay, and 5,000-meter run.

The cost is $6 per individual event and $15 per relay, with a $3 transaction fee for your registration. You can enter online at www.directathletics.com. Search for “Run Like a Tiger.”

Events this weekend include:

— Loda Good Ole Days Celebration 5K Trail Run
This Saturday evening race covers two loops on a path with rolling hills at Lake Iroquois. There is also a kids run for those 13 and under on a half-mile loop.
Race time is 6:30 p.m. and there is race day registration beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Awards include categories for youngest boy and girl finishers, senior man and woman, top dog (participants running with a leashed dog), and top family, an award for best combined time of a parent in the 5K and a child in the kids run.
The Lake Iroquois Association pool will be open to participants after the race.

— Springfield Tri Fest
The three events for triathletes include the Dew the Tri for Kids at 10 a.m. Saturday, for kids ages 5 to 13. Kids swim 100 yards, bike 1.1 miles, then run 1,000 yards.
The Stoneman Sprint Triathlon is at 8 a.m. Sunday. It is a 500-yard swim and a 12-mile bike ride, followed by a 5K run. The race is a qualifier for the Illinois Senior Olympics.
The Iron Abe Triathlon starts at 7:30 a.m. Sunday. It consists of a .9-mile swim, a 24.8-mile bike ride and a 10K run.

Weekend of July 31-Aug. 1:
— Daycation Museum Bicycle Tour
The next ride in this tour series sponsored by Champaign Cycle is a July 31 ride to Chanute Air Museum in Rantoul. The ride leaves at 9 a.m. from the Brookens building at 1776 E. Washington, Urbana. There is no charge for the ride, but cyclists will need to pay the $10 admission to the museum.

— Lytle Park Triathlon
Here’s another opportunity for multisport athletes. This Aug. 1 triathlon in Mattoon has a pool swim, rather than an open water swim. It’s 300 meters in the pool, followed by 12.5 miles on the bike and a 3-mile run.

Weekend of Aug. 7-8:

Villa Grove Ag Days 5K Walk/Run

The race starts at 8 a.m. at Henson Park in Villa Grove. Race day registration begins at 7 a.m. The entry fee is $12.
