Runners, you can catch the premiere of a new movie about the Hood to Coast Relay next week at the Savoy 16.
The movie is being shown in almost 350 theaters across the country on Jan. 11, 2011, in a one-night-only event. It will be shown at the Savoy 16 at 7 p.m.
Hood to Coast is the world’s largest relay race — a 36-hour race with 1,000 12-person teams running nearly 200 miles from Mt. Hood to the Pacific Coast in Oregon.
The movie focuses on four teams:
— Heart N’ Sole, a team of women in their 50s and 60s. It focuses on the story of Kathy Ryan, who suffered a massive heart attack during a previous Hood to Coast race.
— Thunder N’ Laikaning, a team of rookies who work sedentary jobs at an animation studio and are unprepared for the amount of running they’ll do at Hood to Coast.
— The Dead Jocks in a Box, veteran runners who run hard but whose first priority is having fun.
— Team R. Bowe, family and friends running in the memory of Ryan Bowe, who ran Hood to Coast and who died at age 30 from a heart condition.
