The Fit List
Get off the roads and onto the trails this weekend.
If you like running on trails, consider the Buffalo Trace Trail Race this weekend. It’s a nice one, out at Lake of the Woods in Mahomet. Vermilion County has a run on a cross country course, and there’s a run on a bike trail in Decatur too.
Here’s the list:
Weekend of May 19-20:
— Buffalo Trace Trail Race
This is a 5-mile trail run and 2-mile noncompetitive walk Saturday at Lake of the Woods Forest Preserve in Mahomet. The five-mile run course covers rolling hills, woods and prairie areas, on trails used by cross country teams for practices and meets.
You can register today from noon to 6 p.m. at Body n’ Sole in Savoy or race day from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m. Race day registration, check-in and parking are on the west side of Mahomet-Seymour High School.
The race starts and ends at the parking lot for the forest preserve off Crowley Road, about a quarter mile north of the high school.
