VA2K Walk and Roll event today

Employees at the VA Illiana Health Care System in Danville will be walking (or rolling) this afternoon to promote fitness and support homeless veterans.

The VA2K Walk and Roll Event is a nationwide event that coincides with National Employee Health and Fitness Day, and is part of the VA’s employee wellness program. The Danville event is open to the public, and it starts at 4:30 p.m. The 2K walk is 1.2 miles.

As part of the event, the VA Illiana Health Care System is accepting donations of items such as toilet paper, paper towels, pre-paid cell phone minute cards, Trac phones and Wal-Mart or County Market (or other local grocery store) gift cards. The items will go to homeless veterans.

The American Legion Freedom Riders motorcycle group will start the VA2K. The Danville High School Marching Band will be performing.
