The Fit List

It’s marathon weekend! Looks like Saturday will be a great day for running.
I’ll be at the expo Friday morning, the 5K Friday evening and on the marathon course on Saturday. Give me a shoutout if you see me.
Good luck to all the runners. Here’s the list of what else is going on in the next few weekends.Blog Photo

Weekend of April 26-28:
Christie Clinic Illinois Marathon
Really, if you live in C-U, could you be running anywhere but in one of these events this weekend?
Marathon weekend starts off with the 5K tonight, with a little later start this year at 7:30 p.m. The 10K, half marathon, marathon and marathon relay are Saturday morning, and the youth run is Saturday afternoon.
Registration is closed for all races except the youth run. You can register for the youth run at the expo today or at Memorial Stadium Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. Check the website under “Race Info” for more information about the youth run.
If you aren’t running, get out there and cheer on the runners! We appreciate it.

Weekend of May 11-12:
Not Your Average Joe
This 5K and 5-mile race, sponsored by Human Kinetics, is Saturday, May 11. It replaces the Twin City Twosome race. The new name of the race is in honor of Joe Seeley — a Human Kinetics employee, runner and part of the organizational team of the Christie Clinic Illinois Marathon — who died from leukemia in October 2012.
The race has a new format which eliminates the former “twosome” relay competition, but it still benefits the Times Center, Center for Women in Transition and Crisis Nursery.
