The Fit List

I’m hoping the rain will hold off enough this weekend to get the Tour de C-U bike races in. They are fun to watch.
The Fit List has some running races this weekend too, if you’re recovered from the Illinois Marathon and looking to run. Here’s the list:

Weekend of May 4-5:
Tour de C-U
These bike races are the Tour de Champaign on Saturday and the Illinois Cup Urbana Grand Prix on Sunday. Looks like Saturday races are in the University of Illinois Research Park and Sunday races in downtown Urbana.

Weekend of May 11-12:
Not Your Average Joe
This 5K and 5-mile race, sponsored by Human Kinetics, is Saturday, May 11. It replaces the Twin City Twosome race. The new name of the race is in honor of Joe Seeley — a Human Kinetics employee, runner and part of the organizational team of the Christie Clinic Illinois Marathon — who died from leukemia in October 2012.
The race has a new format which eliminates the former “twosome” relay competition, but it still benefits the Times Center, Center for Women in Transition and Crisis Nursery.

Also on May 11 is the Champions 4 Children Walk, in conjunction with the Not Your Average Joe race. This event consists of a walk from the Champaign County Courthouse Plaza to Crystal Lake Park, where participants will complete one of the Not Your Average Joe races.
The Champions 4 Children event is to show support for the Champaign County Children’s Advocacy Center.
