NCAA XC championships

I’m headed to Terre Haute Saturday to watch the best college runners in the country at the NCAA Division I cross country championships.

As I wrote a couple of years ago, this has become a fall tradition for me. This will be my fifth year as a spectator at the cross country championships.

The University of Illinois cross country teams will have two runners at the meet this year. The men will be represented by Jannis Toepfer, who placed third at the NCAA Midwest Regionals, and the women by Alyssa Schneider, who placed fifth at the regionals. Read about Toepfer here, and Schneider here.Blog Photo

Here are predictions by Running Times magazine on how Saturday’s races will come out.

And here’s a story on the LaVern Gibson course in Terre Haute, also known as Cross Country Town. It’s a great place to watch a race!
