Here’s your Fit List for the next few weekends. So many runs, tris and bike rides to choose from. Go race!

 

Weekend of Aug. 13-14:

KMC Sage City Triathlon

This sprint triathlon is Saturday in Monticello. The race is a 300-meter pool swim, a 13.5-mile bike ride to Allerton Park and a 5K run. You can register on race day. Go to http://triharderpromotions.com/sage-city-sprint/ for more information.

 

Crusader 5K

This race is Saturday at The High School of St. Thomas More in Champaign. In addition to the 5K, there’s a kids fun run. Race proceeds will help pay for technology equipment at Holy Cross School. Go to the race website at http://crusader5k.weebly.com/ for more information.

 

FLIP 4 Findlay 5K

This 5K race is Saturday at Eagle Creek State Park in Findlay. There is also a 1-mile walk. Go to http://www.findlayillinois.net/annual-5k-runwalk/ for more information. Here’s a link for online registration.

 

Cruisin’ the Cornfields

This bike ride is Saturday in Sullivan. There are 16- mile and 41-mile routes, and the ride benefits Sullivan Area Arts. Here’s a link for more information.

 

L.A.T.E.Ride

This is a bike ride for the night owls, on Saturday to Sunday in Chicago. The 25-mile ride starts and ends at Buckingham Fountain and it goes through several Chicago neighborhoods and along the lakefront path. Live music starts at 10:30 p.m. and the waves of riders take of between 1:30 and 2 a.m. Riders can watch the sunrise over the lake before eating breakfast at the finish area. Weekend of Aug. 20-21:

Mahomet Half Marathon

This race on Saturday, Aug. 20, in Mahomet includes a half marathon, 5K and a 1-mile youth run. The race benefits the Mahomet Area Youth Club. The finish line for all the races is on the Mahomet-Seymour High School track. For more information, go to http://runmahomet.com/.

 

Illinois Run for the Fallen

This race is Saturday, Aug. 20, at the Charleston High School track in Charleston. Each participant runs or walk a mile for a fallen soldier from Illinois who was killed in Iraq or Afghanistan. The event is part of similar events throughout the nation. There is no fee to participate, but donations will be accepted for the Center for Wounded Veterans in Higher Education at the University of Illinois. Mid August Meltdown

This sprint triathlon is Saturday, Aug. 20, at Lake Sara Beach in Effingham. The revent includes a 400-meter swim, a 13-mile bike ride and a 5K run. For more information, go to http://cuttingedgeevents.net/mam10.html.

 

Pony Express Days 5K

Abe’s Amble 10K

This 10K race is Sunday, Aug. 21, at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield. Here’s a link for online registration.

 

Pie Run

This 3.14-mile race is Saturday, Aug. 20, at West Side Park in Champaign. The evening race, during the Taste of Champaign-Urbana, includes pie stops along the route. At the finish line, participants can choose between dodging flying cream pies or a “pie free” finish lane. Pie/Pi-themed costumes are encouraged, and there are several award categories, including for best costume. Here’s a link for more information.

 

Clinton Lake Sprint Triathlon

This sprint triathlon is Saturday, Aug. 20, at Mascoutin Beach at Clinton Lake. The event is a 400-yard swim, 13-mile bike ride and 5K run. There’s also a youth Splash and Dash with two distances: a 50-meter swim and half mile run for kids 8 and under, and a 100-meter swim and 1 ½-mile run for kids 9 to 14. ALS Awareness 5K

Kickapoo Fat Tire Festival

Weekend of Aug. 27-28:

C-U Across the Prairie

This bicycle ride is Saturday, Aug. 27, starting from Urbana. The ride coincides with Urbana’s Sweet Corn Festival. There is a 7-mile family ride, and routes of 15, 32, 63 and 100 miles. Go to http://www.prairiecycleclub.org/c-u-across-the-prairie/ for more information.

 

Do Something 5K

This 5K is Saturday, Aug. 27, at Crystal Lake Park in Urbana. Race proceeds will support a ministry in Liberia. Click here for online registration.

 

Painful Elimination

This race on Saturday, Aug. 27, at Comlara County Park near Hudson, is billed as “an ultramarathon wannabe.” The race is run on a 4.25-mile loop. Runners must complete the loop within an hour. Each loop starts at the top of the hour. Runners keep competing until they fail to complete the loop within an hour. The race continues until one person is left, or the time reaches the 15-hour mark. There are awards for all runners completing the ultra distance (seven hours), for those completing 12 hours and for those running the full 15 hours. Click here for more information.

 

No Baloney Ride

This bicycle ride on Saturday, Aug. 27, starts in Morton. There are distances of 8, 20, 40, 60 and 100 miles. Go to http://www.ivwnobaloney.com/ for more information.

 

Dawson Lake Dash 5K

Prairie Star 5K

Boilermaker Steamer 5K

This 5K race is Sunday, Aug. 28, in Bradley. There’s also a 2-mile walk and a kids fun run. The race proceeds will benefit the volleyball, girls basketball, and boys and girls cross country programs at Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School. Zoo Run Run
