A few more things to know about Andrew Myers

The challenge in writing about 14-year-old Andrew Myers of Hoopeston and his heart transplant is there just wasn’t enough room for all the interesting stuff about him in today’s print story.

Here are a few details about him that I had to leave out.

His mother, Melissa Myers, says:

When Andrew is free to travel with his new heart, the trip he most wants to take is to Las Vegas to see the Criss Angel Magic Show. Meanwhile, one of his doctors at Children’s Memorial Hospital is filling in by doing some magic tricks for him.
He would also love to go to Six Flags.

He loves both the Cubs AND the White Sox!

He also loves basketball and football, and is a fan of Derrick Rose.

He hopes to one day meet the family of his heart donor.

The public affairs staff at Children’s Memorial says Melissa Myers sewed a collection of Andrew’s T-shirts into a University of Illinois blanket that stays with him at the hospital, and Andrew hopes to go to the UI some day.
