Pandemic film opens Friday

The new film Contagion, a fictional drama about the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and national and international  partners  responding to an  infectious respiratory disease outbreak, opens at theaters Friday.

A Champaign-Urbana Public Health District leadership team will be going to see it on Friday, and district Administrator Julie Pryde says she hopes local theaters will allow the district to set up information tables for the public to promote the need to be prepared for the next pandemic.

“It’s a good opportunity for us to let people know we need to prepare,” she said.
