Uni High update
University High School students have a bit of competition in their effort to get President Barack Obama as their graduation speaker this spring.
Officials from the Department of Education say more than 1,000 schools entered the "Race to the Top Commencement Challenge" launched this year. Applications were due Monday (March 15).
Six finalists selected by the White House and Department of Education will be featured on the White House website, and the public will vote for the three schools they think best meet the president’s goal of showcasing "the best our education system has to offer."
Obama will select a national winner and speak at that school's commencement this spring.
