Champaign police policies posted on city's website

The Champaign Police Department has posted its policy and procedure manual on the city's website: http://ci.champaign.il.us/cpdpolicy.

From the press release:

As we continue to partner with the citizens we serve, the Department is committed to ensuring that its operational and administrative policies are available for public viewing 24 hours a day. We hope that this information will provide clear and concise insight into departmental operations and serve as a useful tool for you.

The 266-page document is a behemoth if you're looking to read the whole thing, but the table of contents at the beginning is a good outline if you're just browsing or looking for something specific.

The manual details what is expected of officers in all kinds of situations. It includes, among others, the use of force policy, a section on racial profiling and what officers should do in a scenario where they are in danger of contracting an infectious disease.

Check it out, and let me know what you think.
