A large, complex storm system will generate additional late-season snow in the central Rockies, while a mixture of rain and wet snow falls from the central High Plains into the Dakotas and Upper Midwest.
Heavy showers and thunderstorms will develop along a trailing cold front over the southern Plains, mid-South, and Corn Belt.
Locally, outbreaks of widespread rain, showers and thunderstorms will bring heavy amounts. This system will tap ample moisture from the Gulf of Mexico and bring the potential for rainfall amounts of 1 to in excess of 2 inches. Locally heavier amounts are likely with stronger storms and where rains repeat.
Heavy rains may result in rises and possible flooding on local rivers as well as flooding of open fields and low-lying areas.
