A major weather pattern change for the Midwest will take place during the next few days.
Locally, occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms will end from west to east by Friday evening, followed by abundant sunshine and much warmer, mid-Summerlike weather for the weekend, but more so for next week. Afternoon temperatures by Sunday will reach the lower 80s, then soar to near-record levels into the mid-80s to around 90-degrees much of next week!
The 6- to 10-day outlook for May 26-30 calls for much warmer-than-normal weather continuing across the Plains, Great Lakes, Midwest, Mid-South, and Northeast. Farther west, a sustained period of cool, stormy weather will persist over the Northwest and by early next week will spread as far east as the northern Plains and the upper Midwest.
